James 5:14-15, “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.”
In our home, when someone isn’t feeling well, we abide by the scripture above and pray over and anoint those who are sick with oil. It is the act of asking and having faith in Christ, that we are healed.
When you ask for healing, you need to have faith, and not doubt in your heart. Ask knowing that the Lord will hear us, and do not doubt His power. Jesus healed so many people, and He can heal you too, you just need to have faith, not doubt and unbelief. Remember James 1:6, “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering…”
I recently used this passage in another study, but the centurion who had a sick servant, came to Jesus and asked Him to heal his servant. He didn’t even need Jesus to come to his house. He knew that if he just asked the Lord for healing, that the sickness would leave. It was his faith that healed his servant.
Mark 5:25-34, “And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him, Thou seeth the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.”
This woman had faith in Jesus, that if she only touched, she knew that she would be healed. She went to so many doctors that she had spent everything that she had! Not only had she spent all her money, her sickness got worse. It was her faith in Jesus that healed her disease.
Every year, millions of people become sick. Over 500 billion dollars are spent in the U.S. each year on medicine alone! That doesn’t even include hospital and clinic fees! Faith and belief in Christ doesn’t cost a penny. The Lord is plentiful in mercy and wants to heal. It is only unbelief that prevents a person from coming and asking for healing.
Another example in the bible is in Matthew 9:28-29. In the verses right before, two blind men were calling out to Jesus for help. It says…”Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They say unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.” Their faith drove them to Jesus, and He saw their faith and healed them.
Matthew 8:2-3, “And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.”
There are so many verses in the bible that show that, if you have faith, you can be healed.
Do you have faith in Christ? That He can heal you of sickness? The verses above show His power. Healing is available to those who believe. Jesus wants to heal you. What are you waiting for?
