The silent learner

Good morning and welcome in today. Today we’re going to look at some scripture from 1 Timothy chapter 2, but before that…..

When I went off to college I had a very good trumpet instructor. I was okay on the trumpet but he was very good. I used to go for trumpet lessons twice a week and before I entered into his office I could hear him playing and practicing his scales. I guess I could never really understand how someone could play so well. It was like he was born to be a trumpet player. I would knock on his door and come into his office and sit down in my chair for my lesson. He was so knowledgeable in how that trumpet was to be played that I didn’t speak a word to him the entire lesson. All I did was listen to what he instructed me.

He showed me how to place my mouth properly on the mouthpiece. He showed me how to oil and care for my trumpet correctly. He showed me how to breathe correctly. He instructed me that if I was going to become very good some day it was going to take a lot of practice practice practice. I never spoke a word during those lessons. I was a quiet learner. At the end of the lesson I simply said thank you.

Just like a busy crowded classroom in school, in order to learn anything the classroom needs to quiet down. You never learn anything if you’re talking. What happens is you just tend to interject your own opinions. In order to learn something we need to be quiet and soak in the things that we are being taught, as I did with my trumpet instructor so many years ago.

11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

When we learn something it simply means to gain knowledge, information, comprehension or some sort of skill. Biblical teachings show us that women are supposed to learn from men: whether they are married or single. It’s not supposed to be the other way around because God is a God of order.

Imagine a private in the military trying to educate the General on how to fight a war. That sounds ridiculous doesn’t it. There was an old saying many many years ago that it’s a man’s world. Men are women’s authority. I understand this is very different than what you might see out in the world today, but if a woman professes to believe in Jesus Christ and she’s claiming to be a Christian, she needs to understand that man is her authority. If she doesn’t submit to men she is sinning against Christ Jesus who she claims is her Lord.

This has nothing to do with being macho, it’s about submitting to authority. Sometime today take a look up in the sky at the sun and remember that the Lord Jesus Christ made that sun. You think that’s power and authority? You better believe it! The same God who created the sun commands that women submit to men. Even the winds and the sea obey Jesus, don’t you think you should? (Matt 8:27)

In the jobs that I’ve held when I was a young man, I always listened to my employers to the things that they taught me. The reason why is because I got further along in the company. I like to learn because it makes you become better when you apply what you have been taught.

The more you silently learn, the more you gain knowledge. I’ve learned that in 40 years of life and I’m passing it on to you today. Listen quietly and learn.

To learn means to gain knowledge, information, comprehension, or skills. Why do you think people go to college? Isn’t it to learn from professors and teachers? The church is a learning institution as well because we are learning to obey Jesus Christ and the teachings of our faith.

A woman who professes to be a follower of Jesus Christ needs to submit to men whether she is married or not. Just because she isn’t married doesn’t give her the authority or right to usurp over the apostle Paul In this passage. There are no women apostles.

Silence means the complete absence of sound. It’s the same way I learned from my trumpet instructor, I was completely quiet.

1Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

Interesting enough this verse doesn’t just apply to women but also to men. Timothy had put himself in subjection to the Apostle Paul. Joshua had put himself into subjection to Moses. The church puts themselves in the subjection to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

So I ask you this, because men need to put themselves into subjection to others why wouldn’t a woman do the same? If it’s required by men why is it not required by a woman? Because they are the weaker vessel, it’s easier for them to be deceived. In that state, they can rebel against their authority and ultimately against the commands of Christ.

When you are in subjection it means to allow yourself to be completely controlled by others who are your direct authority.

A lot of women out in the world don’t like to be controlled by men. I’m not here to judge those who are not Christian. A woman who professes Christ as her Saviour is in different territory. If you truly love Jesus you will do what He says.

What’s the point of doing anything in your life if you’re not going to do it correctly? We might as well go do something else!

God has placed a dad in his home as the authority over the wife and the children. When she usurps over him, whether he’s a believer or an unbeliever, she sins against Christ. She’s not being obedient but rather involved with rebellion and Anarchy.

12 but I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

Suffer not means not to tolerate or to put up with something. There’s a lot of things that the Apostle Paul suffered with and tolerated but one thing he did not tolerate were women teaching in the church or usurping over men in the church. That was forbidden. The Christian woman is not supposed to teach in any capacity.

Look how many years it has gone on with women teaching Sunday school and people who profess to be Christian women that teach in schools out society. That is not the Christian faith. I used to teach at a school and had to leave because I was unequally yoked with unbelievers but yet these women who profess to be Christian don’t have to obey?

I read some historical personal diaries of a man a man who professed Christianity from approximately 200 years ago who had a daughter that wanted to become a teacher. She wanted to go to school and her dad told her, if you do, we will disown you. Her own mother felt the same way. It’s wrong.

Look at how much has changed. That’s the reason I think I’ve never fit in to this society. That’s why I’ve said there’s two forms of Christianity out there in the world today, those who believe in Christ and His teachings and those who like to be religious and want to believe that they’re going to heaven but wholeheartedly reject Jesus and what he taught.

When you teach something to someone it means to show or to explain to someone how to do something. For example a child wants to learn how to hit a baseball with a bat any approaches the mother and the mother says…. go find your dad and he’ll show you how to do it. That my friends is a Christian woman. It is forbidden for her to teach.

The only places in the scriptures where it says she may teach is that she may teach the young women to love their husbands.

Titus 2:4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

That is the calling for women.

The true man of God wants you to become obedient and uses scripture to help you become obedient. He wants you to be blessed by God. The devil uses scripture to lead you away from biblical truth and ultimately lead you to disobey Jesus. (The devil hates obedience)

In todays modernistic form of christianity they will teach you that scripture can’t be applied today because the world has evolved. Yes, it is these people who have backslidden away from the truth. The truth of God never changes, only society. COME OUT saith the LORD!

All people will be judged by his word at judgement day. The devil’s purpose is to take as many people don’t to hell with him as possible so make sure you don’t fall into his trap and believe his lies.

The only person who teaches people to directly contradict the teachings of Christ is the devil. Many today who are weak in their faith are taken captive by him. (2 Tim 2:26)

How can a woman teach the children to love their husbands when they themselves don’t? Its one thing for divorce and adultery and separation to be going out in the world but never in the church. The reason why is you are going against Christ’s great command, to love others. To do this is denying our faith. You men married your wives, stay with them and love them!

How can a woman teach her children to love their husbands when they don’t? That’s hypocrisy.

12 but I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

Usurp means to hold the power or rights of somebody else by force or without the authority to do so.

How does a policeman or Sheriff feel if somebody dresses up in their outfit and runs around in a squad car but they’re really not a sheriff or a policeman at all? They call that impersonating an officer. Those who do such things are trying to use authority that has not been granted to them.

In the same respect how do you think a man or a husband feels when a wife usurps over him. Are you getting the picture yet? It’s wrong in the eyes of Jesus Christ our creator.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the authority of all authorities. Every place of authority out there in the world today have been created by Jesus and for His purposes, whether they are a policeman, sheriff, state patrolman, judge or a husband in his home.

Not everybody in these places of authority serves Christ Jesus. Jesus mentioned an unjust judge in the scriptures. (Luke 18:6)

Ultimately they’ll have to stand before Christ someday to account for what they have done in those positions of power.

To usurp authority means to seize and to hold the power or rights that belong to somebody else by force.

Jesus commands that women are supposed to be silent learners of men. Silence is complete absence of sound. Remember the Apostle is not speaking to wives alone but to all women in general so whether they’re married or not they need to submit to men or otherwise they sin against Jesus. Remember, unrepented of sin leads to death.

13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

The word first means foremost in position, rank, or importance.

Adam was created out of the dust of the Earth but Eve was created out of Adam. Adam essentially gave birth to Eve through God’s handiwork, just the same as a woman gives birth to her children. The children become part of her flesh as much as Eve is a child of adam. After all it’s through Adam by which she was created. Anybody who takes issue with that is denying scripture. Man was first. That is the creators order.

Let me ask you a question.

What mother would like her children usurping over her authority in the home? But yet there are women who profess to be Christian who usurp over men every single day not only in the world but in their own homes and in the church. The Apostle Paul did not put up with that at all and that’s is one of the marks of spirituality in a man’s life.

I grew up in a church where women preached from a lector during services. The handed out communion. They taught classes. I always felt it was wrong but when I finally studied the scriptures for myself, I understood why I felt this way. It goes completely against the teachings of our beloved Jesus.

No man in the church can allow or to give permission to a woman to usurp over a man or teach because in doing so he himself is usurping over Jesus Christ and his commands.

The devil can appear as an angel of light, but seduces and leads people into disobedience to Christ.

Why do you think Jesus made a scourge in the temple and through over tables and scourged everybody and kicked them right out of there? That is righteous anger. (Remember it was a scourge, He could have vaporized them.) You ain’t seen nothin yet, wait till he returns.

14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

In the Garden of Eden, Adam was not deceived. It was the woman who was deceived. She believed the lie as though it was true. women must listen to the instruction of men.

The Devil is a deceiver and a liar.

When someone is deceived it means you’re believing something that is not true from the teachings of Scripture. God gives us Commandments in his holy word that are to be obeyed and followed because we love him. If we make a mistake, we can come boldly to the throne of grace in time of need and get back on the right track so that we can become pleasing unto him.

The devil never wants to please God and will not repent. The devil will not confess sin. The devil will not apologize because he’s filled with pride. Like the devil did to Eve in the Garden of Eden he tries to turn you away from becoming obedient to God and teaches lies. He does this so you will become disobedient along with himself.

You and I have both made mistakes along the way and we can get forgiven but the devil will not do that. Because the devil knows his time is near so he tries to take as many people away from Christ and his teachings as possible. He seduces and deceives them.

If the devil truly loved God he would repent of his wickedness and turn back to Christ in an attempt to obey Him and to serve him.

The issue is that the devil is so cold hearted and filled with pride he will not do that and he tries to take as many people away from Christ as possible. without repentance those who follow him are going to suffer the same fate as he will Eternal damnation.

Transgression : A violation of a law, principle, or duty.

15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

Faith is an allegiance to duty or a person: loyalty

Faith is allegiance and duty to our Lord Jesus Christ and the teachings of scripture. By being obedient to what is taught we show the Lord that we are truly his friends.

James 2:23 “And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.”

John 15:14

14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

Only when you truly become a Christian in your heart are you going to understand the things that I’m teaching you here today because the Apostle Paul didn’t suffer these two things,… women are never to usurp over men and they are never to teach. Any man out there who’s professing the Christian faith need to accept what I’m teaching you along with you women for your own salvation.

Watch what the Lord Jesus Christ does in your life when you obey him because he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. That I promise you!

That’s it for today in Lord willing we’ll talk to you some more tomorrow till then bye-bye everybody
