Submitting to God’s control

Good morning and welcome in today. Today we’re going to talk about what it means to submit to God’s control.

Our God is a God of order. Every place of authority in the world today was created by God and for God. Whether it’s a sheriff or a policeman, a judge or state patrolman or even a dad as the authority in his own household, all these places of authority have been created by Jesus Christ and for his purposes.

Rom 13: 1-2 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

All I said, these places of authority have been created by Jesus Christ and for his purposes. The highest being Jesus our Lord. The apostles and ministers are in a place of authority upon the Earth to help guide you toward salvation and biblical truth.

In the scriptures we are taught by the Lord Jesus Christ to submit to those who have the rule over you and have preached unto you the Word of God.

Heb 13:17. Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that [is] unprofitable for you.

Those who have the rule over you in the church are those who have faithfully preached God’s word unto you. Paul had begotten people through the gospel because he converted and preached to them at the first. Like a dad who gives birth to a son, Paul was a dad for the church and birthed people into the Christian faith. Remember you’re supposed to obey your dad in everything and so much more someone in the church who has given you the teachings of Christ. You want to submit to them because they were in the faith before you were, and helped you grow in the scriptures.

I believe one of the greatest examples of love that you can extend to somebody else is giving them the teachings of scripture. After all, that’s what Jesus did. That’s what he commanded his disciples to do. That’s how a man is supposed to love his own wife, to educate her and the children in God’s will. The wife and the children need to submit and obey their dad and husband in all things.

Eph 5:24. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so [let] the wives [be] to their own husbands in every thing.

Eph 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

A dad doesn’t want you getting hurt, and they warn and correct you just as men of God do in the church.

Heb 12:9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

Submission is allowing yourself to be controlled by another. When you do, that results in obedience. God loves it when we are obedient!

In the dictionary the word submit means to accept or yield to a superior force or to the authority or will of another person, or to yield to governance or authority. We are supposed to yield to the teachings of scripture.

Rom 6:13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Think about a group of kids in a classroom. The instructor is in charge of those children for the day. The children need to yield and submit to the teacher. If they choose not to submit, it results in disobedience which further results in going down for detention or being removed from school completely.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Think about people who join the military and have to go through basic training. The trainees need to submit to their drill instructor, otherwise they themselves will be put into submission and punished.

Submission is to yield or surrender oneself to the will or authority of somebody else.

Have you ever been on a school bus when a lot of the children we’re goofing off in the back of the bus. All of a sudden a strong rebuke comes from the front of the bus from the driver. If you don’t listen the driver might pull right over on the side of the highway and warn you and correct you. If you don’t submit to them you may not be riding the bus anymore. They have been put in charge with your safety just like a dad is in charge of his home, or a man of God has been placed in charge of your soul. God wants us to submit and obey.

Eph 5:21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Have you ever been driving down the highway and take an off-ramp to get onto the Interstate? Many times you will see a yield sign. What you do is you submit to the other drivers on the road before you pull out onto the Interstate.

Yield means to give something over to the power or control of another.

Rom 6: 16-17. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

God wants us to obey the Doctrine and the teachings of the Christian faith that was once delivered unto the Saints.

The word surrender is a similar word because it means to submit to another’s authority.

Submission is a huge part of the Christian faith. If you never learn submission it will never result in obedience toward God. Submission is doing something that somebody else tells you rather than doing what you want to do. You want to allow yourself to be completely controlled by what the apostles and Jesus himself taught us. Remember, the Commandments are not Grievous. Treat others the same way you would want to be treated.

Rom 13:7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

If we don’t learn submission we will never become pleasing unto God. The reason why is because in that state, you don’t want to be controlled.

1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all [of you] be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Imagine if there was no authority out in the world today the world would be a place of complete chaos and anarchy. There must be authority and control, and it begins with your dad.

A policeman turns on his siren and you submit and pull over. A teacher at school tells the class to line up for lunch and be quiet, so you submit and lineup and be quiet. Your boss at work orders you to go clean the bathrooms so you submit and go clean the bathrooms. Your dad instructs and commands you at home, and you submit and obey him in everything.

When people don’t submit it results in disorder and rebellion.

If we are truly going to pray the Lord’s Prayer and we want God’s will to be done it’s going to require submission to God.

Matt 6: 9-10 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Are you submitting to your place of authority?

Think about that for right now and Lord willing we’ll talk you some more later on till then bye-bye everybody.
