Nothing Can Separate Us From God’s Love

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

The word “separate” means “to isolate; to set or keep apart.” So that means that there is nothing that can keep us apart or isolate us from God’s love. No person, place or thing can divide us from His love.

In the book of Daniel, king Nebuchadnezzar made a decree that whoever would not bow down and worship before his golden image would be cast into a fiery furnace. Well, Shadrach, Mesach, and Abednego were Jews and they refused to worship the image that the king had made. They refused to bow down to the image, and when accused, they told the king,

“If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.” Daniel 3:17-18

This made king Nebuchadnezzar extremely angry and he had Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego thrown into the furnace. And do you know what happened? God delivered them out of the furnace completely unharmed. They knew that no one could separate them from God’s love, and they weren’t afraid. They knew that God loved them, and that He could deliver them.

Also in the book of Daniel, when Daniel was cast into the den of Lions, he knew that God would protect him from harm. He knew that God loved him and that wherever he was that God would always love him.

Whether someone throws you into jail because of your belief in Jesus, or persecutes you for being a Christian, you can always know that there is always Someone who loves you. Even when the world hates and despises you, God always loves you and there is nothing that anyone can do to separate you from His love.

When Paul and Silas were put into prison for preaching the Gospel, they sang and prayed unto God. Just because they were in jail didn’t change the fact that God still loved them, and it didn’t stop them from praising Him.

Wherever you are on the earth, God will be with His believers. You can be in the Antarctic, or in the deserts of Egypt. In prison or free. There is no place you can go that can separate you from the love of God, and there is no one that can take His love away from you.

His love is so great that He sent His Son Jesus to die for us, even while we were still sinners.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

And while unbelievers in the world may reject or refuse to accept His love, they cannot escape the fact that He loves them too and is waiting for them to love Him back.

In Christ,

Andrew
