People Need to Hear About Jesus

There are many ways someone can learn or obtain information today. For many years, people have been able to get up and go to their door in the morning and pick up the day’s paper and read about what happened the day before, or what will happen very soon. More often today, people can just look up whatever information they want on their phone or computer. They can learn about things because someone took the effort to put that information out there.

It has been 2000 years since Jesus was on the Earth, so how do we know what we need to do in order to please Him? Men of God wrote down for us the accounts of what happened, and wrote us teachings to follow. If Paul and the other apostles never wrote down what happened, how would we know what Jesus did for us on the cross? How would we know the great transformation Paul had unless Luke wrote it down in the book of Acts?

Information is more readily available today than at any time in history. There is radio, television, print, the internet, all available at someone’s fingertips.

Have you ever found out about some information and wished that you knew it long before? Maybe you bought something and learned later that if you went to a different store that it was substancially cheaper there. Or maybe you are working on a project and it takes quite a long time to do, and after you’ve finished, you find out a different way that is twice as fast. It sure would have been nice to know that information before, now wouldn’t it?

There are many people who have lived a long life, struggling under the weight of their sins. They lived on the hard road of sin their whole life. And then they learn about Jesus. They learn about His love and mercy and His forgiveness that is available to all who come to Him and repent.

I have been blessed in that I have been surrounded by the Word of God since I was a young child. But there are many people who have not heard about what the Holy Scriptures teach. They might know the name of Jesus, but when it comes to what He taught, they don’t really know. These people need to hear about God’s love for them.

But how can they hear unless someone puts that information in front of them? How can a doctor learn how to perform a surgery unless someone either teaches them or writes it in a book? I know for certain that I couldn’t perform surgery on anyone, because no one has taught me. How can someone learn about Jesus if they haven’t heard of Him or know His will for them?

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” Romans 10:13-15

I may not know how to do certain things, but I have been taught the Word of God. I know what the Bible teaches, and how Jesus wants me to live, because someone wrote it down in the Bible, and someone else preached it to me, and now I can read it for myself and learn.

Look at how many people are on the earth. They all need to hear about Jesus. How are they going to hear about His love unless someone preaches it to them? We as Christians need to be a bright burning light to those around us. We are the light of the world, and we need the world to see the light of Christ in our life. Years ago, people used to take one candle and light all of the other candles in the house with that one candle. We are that candle, and we need to light the other candles in the world.

“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

Everyone needs to hear about Jesus. Do your part and be a bright shining light for Christ.

In Christ,

Andrew
