The Holy Woman

Good morning and welcome in today. Today we’re going to take a look at a passage of scripture from 1 Peter chapter 3. The topic of our discussion is going to be primarily about submission.

Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

Submission is the action or fact of accepting and yielding to a superior force or to the will or authority of another person. When you submit, it is defined as being obedient and obeying the will, treatment and control of somebody else.

I’ve talked about this numerous times in the past, but when you go out in society and get a job you have a boss who is your authority over you. Each day people willingly submit and obey their boss. Those who don’t are probably going to end up getting fired from their job. It’s very similar in the military when you go into basic training. You obey people who have the rule over you. If you don’t they kick you out of the military.

A marriage is one of the closest unions upon the face of the earth. A man and a woman is joined in a union by God together. Although they are joined together as one in the flesh through sexual relationships, a man is above the woman in all respects. In a marriage, a wife is supposed to be in submission to her own husband. She can resist that control and fight against his authority, but remember it’s the Lord Jesus who took the nails on the cross for our sins and He requires that a woman be in submission to her man.

Somebody who is going to resist authority in the military will probably end up going to jail. Life is about learning to obey those who have the rule over you. As a child you learn to obey a parent or your dad. The dad is the ultimate Authority in a home. The home is kind of like a ship and the dad is the captain. He has control over his wife and his children. Submission is to obey Him in everything. This is what Christianity teaches.

The opposite of submission is rebellion which is something that God absolutely hates. He detests it. Remember that places of control and authority we’re created by the Lord Jesus Christ and for him. Whether somebody is a King over an entire nation or he’s a dad over his small home, these places have been created by the Lord Jesus Christ. A wife is never to usurp over her husband’s authority. If she truly loves Christ she will obey this command.

Any woman who professes to believe in Jesus Christ, out of love and what he did for us at his cross, she will yield to the authority in the home and the man that Christ has placed over her. She needs to yield to his authority.

Scripture teaches to submit one to another which means whatever your place of authority is, you need to obey. Whether it’s children who obey their parents, or a wife obeys her husband.

Submission has to do with obeying and yielding to an authority in your life. A woman has authority in the home over the children, but remember the husband has authority over her and the children both. She needs to obey him in everything and do what she’s told by him. This is God will for her.

If she chooses willingly not to obey her husband she is in a state of anarchy. She’s in anarchy against Christ and the teachings of scripture. Anarchy is simply a state of disorder that is due to absence or non-recognition of authority.

A wife may tell her children to get into the car because they are going to go to the grocery store. The children might say that they want to stay home but the mother says no you’re going to get in the car and we’re going to go to the grocery store. You need to obey me, get moving!

A wife may demand obedience from her own children but she needs to treat the husband with the same respect and obedience. When the husband says no to her, she needs to listen to what he says just like the children are expected to listen to her.

There were numerous times when I used to come home from work and my wife used to say that I needed to discipline our son. She said he’s not listening to anything I tell him to do. I would take him into his bedroom and sit him down and talk to him about what was going on. I made sure he understood what it meant to obey her. If a wife expects obedience from children she needs to obey her husband in the same way, otherwise all it is is hypocrisy. You expect obedience from others but you yourself won’t obey.

Scripture teaches us today that the wives are supposed to be in subjection to their own husbands. They are supposed to obey them whether they are a believer or an unbeliever. They’re not supposed to preach at men because that is forbidden by God. The men can be won to Christ when they behold the wives chaste conversation coupled with fear.

Chaste means they seriously and sincerely love you with all their heart. When wives fear their husband it means that they respect, honor, listen and obey the things that they are told to do by him. Those two qualities can win a man to Christ.

A woman can put on makeup in the morning or do her hair. She can wear nice clothes and shoes. Those things have nothing to do with salvation of a soul. If she wants to be saved she needs to put on a meek and quiet spirit. If she is truly filled with meekness, it means that she will obey her husband in everything.

Meekness means she doesn’t talk back or usurp authority over the husband. Can you imagine Jesus talking back to his blessed father? Can you imagine the apostles rebelling against Christ and disobeying him? Many women who profess to be a Christian do this to their own husbands and don’t even give it a second thought. Some women today are more focused on their looks rather than what is on the inside of their hearts.

For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands

Holy women who trust in God will be in subjection to their husband. There are many women today who profess to be a Christian, yet they completely rebel against Christ and what he taught. There are many people who actually support the things that these rebellious women do.

There is a false form of Christianity that is on the rise in the world. A truly Holy woman of God will be in subjection to her husband. If she can’t obey her husband and do the things that he tells her, she is not going to obey Jesus. If she doesn’t obey her husband in that which is least she will be unfaithful in much, not only to her husband but Christ himself. We have a great example of a holy woman of God in the scriptures who obeyed her husband in everything.

Sarah obeyed Abraham calling him Lord. When you obey you submit to somebody else’s Authority. When you obey you follow the instruction or guidance of somebody else.

The Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ show obedience to Jesus by preaching and teaching God’s Word to the people and baptizing them. When you obey you follow somebody’s rules and instructions. When a woman does not obey what she is told by her husband, it is called disobedience in the dictionary. It is also known as rebellion. Rebellion is to fight against those who have authority over you.

Sarah obeyed Abraham calling him Lord. The man is the head of the home. He is the head over the wife and the children. He is the lord of the house. If a woman were to usurp over him it’s no different then a lieutenant on a ship who leads all the shipmates in a rebellion against the captain of the vessel. That is called a mutiny. It is evil and wicked.

Hebrews 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

Ephesians 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Whatever a husband commands you to do, you need to obey him in everything. If you choose not to, you are sinning against him and Christ at the same time.

1st Peter 5:5 “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”

Ephesians 5:22 wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands as unto the Lord. If she can not obey her husband who she has seen she’s not going to obey Jesus Christ whom she has not seen.

1st Corinthians 14:34. Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.

I’ve always told my family that I am a man and I’m the head of our household. That is the position that God has placed me. If God had made me a woman and I was a mother and a wife, I guarantee you I would have submitted myself to everything that my husband told me to do, knowing that I would be pleasing and obeying Christ by doing so. Obedience pleases those who are an authority over you. I am not a woman but God created me as a man. As a man I am charged with the responsibility of leading my family in biblical truth. God wants each of us to learn to submit to our authority in our lives. Without submission and obedience you’ll never truly be able to be a Christian in your heart. Those are things that show God how much we love him.

Think about those things for today and Lord willing we’ll talk to you some more tomorrow. Till then, bye bye everybody♥️
