Gods Righteous Anger

Good morning and welcome in today. Today we’re going to take a look at some scripture from 2nd Thess chapter 1:6-8.

Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

The word punish in the dictionary means to inflict a penalty or a sanction as payback for an offense towards somebody else.

If you were a child in a playground at school and you hurt somebody else the principal might inflict some kind of punishment upon you. He might give you detention or send you home. If you do something wrong in society a judge in a courtroom can inflict some sort of punishment upon you. He has sentencing guidelines to punish you accordingly for the wrongs that you have committed against others. That’s what we call justice.

Justice is a concept on ethics and law that means that people behave in a way that is fair, equal and balanced for everyone.

Punishment is the imposition of an undesirable or an unpleasant outcome imposed on you because of something that you have done wrong.

In a situation at home you might do something that is wrong but your dad tells you that because of what you’ve done you’re going to be punished on the weekend.

God is our heavenly father. He punished Pharoah by destroying his army and his own child. Pharaoh mocked God. When you mock something it means to treat with ridicule or scorn. When somebody mocks you they treat you like you are beneath them.

When the innocent suffer tribulation God is going to punish those who hurt them, that is a fact. Even when earthly authorities refuse to do what’s just, God will punish not only those who harm his children but those who choose not to serve the cause of justice.

Recompense means to pay back. God is perfectly just and He will repay those who have hurt his children in this world.

Don’t forget the old saying….. what goes around comes around. When you do something wrong to others it’s going to come right back at you. All of us are sinners but without repentance God is going to repay sin. To those who hurt you He is going to hurt them. That’s called Justice. Not everybody who is in a place of authority wants to do what’s good and right. They don’t use their place of authority that God has given them in a just and right manner.

Luke 18:1-8

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:

And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.

And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?

I tell you that he will avenge them speedily……

God wants us to do what is just and good.

Micah 6:8 – He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Jesus was so upset he made a scourge in the temple.

John 2:13-17 And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:

15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables;

16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise.

17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

Romans 1:18 – For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Ezekiel 25:17 – And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.

Don’t forget that God destroyed the Earth in a flood.

2 Pet 3:1-7

This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Every place of authority in this world has been granted by the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who refuse to do justice with the authority that He has granted them are sinning against God. Whether they choose to do what’s just or not, I guarantee you that God will avenge His children, speedily. Praise The God of all glory.

Let’s think about that for today and Lord willing we’ll talk to you some more tomorrow. Till then, bye bye everybody.♥️
