One Way

Good morning and welcome in today. Today we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture from John 14:6.

Jesus saith unto him I am the way the truth and the life no man cometh unto the father but by me.

There are many people in the world today who profess to have faith in a god. They feel like they are all going to be able to be in Heaven someday and live eternally. Although there are many many different forms of religion, the Lord Jesus teaches us in this passage that no man cometh unto the Father but by me. There is only one way that we can access eternal life and walk through the Gates of heaven someday and that is through faith in Christ Jesus who God sent into this world to save us from our sins. Jesus is the only way in.

Many years ago I had gone to a few amusement parks where there were thousands and thousands of people that came to ride the rides. You had to get into this huge waiting line to get in. Everybody had to file in through one single person at the ticket counter. What they did is they took your ticket stub and then they would punch it and let you go through the turnstile and into the amusement park. There was no way that you could sneak into that amusement park. It had huge walls and fencing that completely surrounded it.

I remember when I was in high school we used to go to a couple of hockey games each year. Before you got to go inside and watch the game you had to file single file through one person at the door. These events are similar to our way into eternal life. Jesus is the only entrance point into heaven. He is the Gate. In order to access eternal life, we have to go through Him.

There are many people who are going to try to sneak into Heaven. There will be many people who are going to say Lord Lord, but will be turned away from Heaven. Our ticket to eternal life is through Christ. He is our ticket into heaven itself.

Again, He teaches no man cometh unto the father but by me.

In John 10:9 Jesus said I am the door by me if any man enter in he shall be saved.

Our family has always liked going canoeing and fishing. For many years we’ve gone up into the Boundary Waters north of Ely. There are many lakes up there that once you get into, there’s no way out but the way you came in. There is only one access point to get to them. You may go through a bunch of little lakes, but the only way to get back out is to turn around and go back the way you came in. Our ticket to eternal life is found in Christ Jesus, and He is the only way in. Salvation is found in His grace, forgiveness and mercy that He shed abundantly for us when he died at the cross.

Many people are going to try to attain Heaven by their works. Many people will try to attain Heaven by their deeds. Those activities by themselves are not enough. The problem is that each of us have a sin issue with God that needs to be expunged and forgiven by Him. This is why Jesus died at the cross.

In the Old Testament Moses and the Israelites were saved when death passed over them. They put Lamb’s blood on their door posts so that they would be saved. They were saved by the blood of the Passover Lamb.

In the New Testament of Christianity, Jesus is the real Passover Lamb. His blood is what saves us from our sinful condition so that we can live someday in heaven forever. Death passes over us.

John 6:27-40

27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.

35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.

37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

They partook of the Earthly Passover Lamb in Judaism. In Christianity we partake of Christ who is Gods heavenly Passover Lamb that He sent into this world to save us from our sins.

Continuing…..

52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

In order for us to have eternal life some day, the Lord teaches that we need to partake of Him. This is the purpose of having communion in the church. We partake of His sacrifice that he has provided freely to this world. It is the sacrifice of Himself.

As I have taught for many years, Jesus is present at the altar in physical form. It is His body and His blood that we partake of in communion. It is a miracle of God that He performs.

In order to have eternal life someday the Lord Jesus teaches us in verse 54,

“Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

So in order to inherit eternal life and be in Paradise someday with Christ, we have to partake of Holy Communion.

As I’ve said before, we need to be baptized in the name of Christ. That is the first step that a person takes when they become a Christian. They go underneath the water and are baptized into His name. The next step is they need to learn from the holy Scriptures daily and partake of Christ’s sacrifice in Holy Communion.

If any man sin we have an advocate with the father, Jesus Christ the righteous. In the church, people may make a mistake along the Christian walk but this is one of the reasons why Jesus has provided Himself as a sacrifice for our sins, so that we can have forgiveness with God in time of need. What we do is we wash away our sins through Holy Communion.

As I’ve always taught, when we partake of communion together, Jesus comes inside of us physically. We partake of his body and we drink the blood of Christ. We consume His perfect sacrifice of Himself, and it cleanses our hearts and our minds inside of our bodies. Forgiveness washes over us like a flood.

Partaking of Christ is a doorway to eternal life. Jesus truly is that one way to heaven. No man cometh unto the father but by Him. What each of us need to do is admit the fact that we are a sinner. We need to confess our faults and accept the truth of Christ and the things that he taught. We need to be converted from our sinful condition through his grace and partake of Christ through Holy Communion.

Remember that an Earthly lamb was sacrificed to save the Israelites from death but God sent His sacrifice, His precious only begotten Son to lay down his life for our salvation.

1 John 5:11

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

Have you washed away your sins in the blood of Christ? Have you called upon his name?

I think that’s where I’m going to stop right now but Lord willing, we’ll talk some more tomorrow. Till then, bye-bye everybody.♥️
