The Meek

Goodmorning and welcome in today. Today we are going to take a look at some scripture from Psalms 25 but before we do that I wanted to ask you a question.

Have you ever had a pet that was eager to please you? Maybe you had a student that was always ready and willing to do something that you wanted them to do.

Meekness in The Christian faith is defined as possessing an attitude in your mind to submit to the teachings of Jesus Christ with the desire to please Him. Yielding to God’s will is a choice that each of us need to make in our own lives. Meekness is displayed in someones life by wanting to do Gods will.

Psalms 25:9 – The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

There are lots of examples of people who chose the path of meek submission to the will Of Christ. Look at the meek heart of Moses.

Numbers 12:3 – (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)

Moses meekly chose the will of God in his life over the things the world had to offer. Although he could have inherited riches and the throne in Egypt, he turned away from it all to serve Christ Jesus.

Heb 11:24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;

25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

28 Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.

29 By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.

When you are meek towards God it means that you are easily imposed on and submissive. This is the quality that a Christian is supposed to possess, in order to please Jesus completely. Submissive means meekly obedient or passive. Let’s look at some submission verses.

Ephesians 5:24 – Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Ephesians 5:22 – Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

1 Peter 5:5 – Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

The Christian wife is supposed to submit to her husband. Her submission is an act of meekness.

1 Pet 3:1-6 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

Someone who is blessed is enjoying great happiness and blissful.

Matthew 5:5 – Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Noah and Abraham are examples of men who meekly submitted to God.

Heb 11:7-9 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:

Our blessed Lord Jesus is filled with meekness and has always submitted Himself to His heavenly Father.

Matthew 11:29 – Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

God rewards those who are meek.

Psalms 37:11 – But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

When we think about meekness, think about being humbly submissive to God’s purpose for each of us.

Let’s think about those things for today and Lord willing I’ll talk to you some more tomorrow. Till then, bye bye everyone.♥️
