The Canoe Ride

Good morning and welcome in today. Today we’re going to take a look at a passage of scripture but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.

Many people in the bigger cities in our state like to migrate to Northern Minnesota for a few weeks each year. They simply want to get away from all the hustle and bustle and all the noise that they have to deal with day by day, so what they do is find a place to park their RV up here, or set up their tent on a campground somewhere and then get their boat ready for a very early excursion in the morning.

There is something so peaceful about getting into the boat when the sun is just coming up over the horizon. It is so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. It seems the only thing you can hear is your paddle as it touches the water with each gentle stroke. You can just sit for a while and enjoy the silence, and even sit back and study God’s Word. Peace and quiet is a great environment to be able to learn in.

How many of you have tried to do homework or study for a test at home when the rest of the family is screaming and yelling? It’s hard to concentrate isn’t it.

Even in the classroom at a school, there needs to be the right learning atmosphere if anybody’s going to learn anything. Students need to have respect for their teachers and give them their undivided attention. When a class begins it should be peaceful and quiet as a canoe on the lake with students who are ready to be quiet silent learners.

Silence is complete absence of sound or noise; or not talking, or writing about a specific issue.

1 Tim 2:11-15

11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

God has a specific function for a man and for a woman in the Christian church. Teaching others is a role that God has given exclusively to men and to men alone. I’m not all alone on this because There are millions and millions of conservative Christians who believe the very same thing that I do.

Before I took a dive and got baptized I told my wife I would never ever teach in my life because I despised it. She bears witness to that comment. When I became a believer I had to go against everything in my human nature to become a door of God’s Will and to learn to teach. I had to unlearn to hate the thing that I despised, and to do it for Christ’s sake who died for me.

So you see, when I preach this passage of scripture it goes far beyond being macho or wanting to be in control of others. Because women are not allowed to teach I must take up my duties as a man and fulfill God’s calling for me.

If I have been born a woman, I wouldn’t have cared about teaching at all because I would have stayed home with my children and had fun with them and baked cookies.

Women are supposed to be taught and instructed by men in the church. They are not supposed to speak or talk back but rather submit to what they’re instructed. Young impressionable eyes in the home are watching to see how a wife submits to her husband in everything. They learn humble obedience to Jesus by the way she treats her husband.

Athough it happens in many forms of false christianity today, women are not supposed to speak in any church setting at all or in any capacity. Nowadays they have them preaching, teaching sunday school, speaking from the lectern and even giving out Holy Communion. These things are forbidden in God’s eyes.

1 Corinthians 14:34-35 – Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

A lot of the women who do this are filled up with pride and the spirit of Jezebel.

Rev 2:20-22

20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.

22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

The husband is the wifes ruler who they need to humbly submit to in order to to please Christ.

Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee

A woman is not supposed to usurp authority over a man in the church. If she does she sins against Christ Jesus and is in a state of rebellion and anarchy against the teachings of scripture.

1 Corinthians 11:3 – But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

Ephesians 5:22-24 – Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Women need to be as quiet as a church mouse and do the things that they are instructed to do by men. It will not only please men but ultimately the Lord Jesus Christ because you’re walking in the role and purpose that he is calling you to do.

Let’s think about those things for today and Lord willing I’ll talk to you some more tomorrow. Till then, bye bye everybody.❤
