Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture from Jeremiah but before we do that I wanted to ask you a question.
Have you ever had a Christmas tree in your house? I know that there are millions of God fearing Christians who don’t allow them in their homes because they are aware that they came out of false religions. This is not a hidden fact because it’s been exposed for years, not only by Christians but by people who don’t even profess Christianity as their faith. The sad thing is Many people who profess to be Christian allow them simply because they refuse to accept the truth.
When I was a young child our family had Christmas trees. Because we lived out in the woods, our family would go out and cut one down so that we could bring it into the house and decorate it. Back then many people would even place them by the altar in a church service and more than likely continue to do the same thing today.
Something happened to me when I started reading the King James Bible and believed the truth of what Jesus did for me at the cross. Something changed in my life when I got submerged in water and was baptized into His name. I knew in my heart that there was something wrong with Christmas trees. It didn’t feel right to me anymore, not because I read it somewhere, not even because somebody had told me, it was because I felt it was wrong in my conscience. Ever since that day our family has never had one in my home.
It is clear from the teachings of historians in society that the Christmas tree has come from false religion along with many other heathen traditions that people celebrate on the holiday. The Lord Jesus gets very upset when people who profess to have faith in him, attempt to combine practices used in false religions, with the Christian faith.
Jesus taught that if we truly love Him we will keep His commands. Listen to what He commands in the following passage about learning heathen religious practices, such as the Christmas tree.
Jer 10:1-5 Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: 2 Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. 5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not:……..
Beginning at verse one we learn that this is a command from the Lord Jesus Christ. A commandment is a divine order. Many people only think about the 10 commandments in the old testament but there are numerous commands from the Lord Jesus Christ throughout the Bible. Jesus commanded his disciples and apostles. When we do the things that he commands us to do, it shows that we love him. It shows that we are his friends.
John 14:15 – If ye love me, keep my commandments
1 John 2:3 – And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him…
Keeping the commands of Jesus is proof of our love towards him.
John 14:21- He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him…..
John 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you….
Jesus doesn’t want us to learn the way of the heathen, which would include any kind of teachings that have been generated out of a false religion. Jesus wants us to learn His way because His way is Truth.
John 14:6 – Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Matt 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
When you learn something, it means to gain or acquire knowledge of or skill in something by study, experience, or being taught. The Christian church is a place of learning. It is a place where we are being instructed in the teachings of our faith in order to please God and do his will. When we become Christians it’s like a marriage. We become married to Christ in our hearts and our minds. Just as a wife would submit and serve and obey her husband to prove her love and faithfulness unto him, we love and obey the Lord Jesus Christ and His commands.
A wife who is unfaithful to her husband is similar to those who profess to be Christian and are unfaithful and unloving toward Jesus. Instead of remaining faithfully by Christ’s side, they are like the whore of Babylon in the book of Revelation who get involved with the practices of false gods and false religions.
Solomon provoked the Lord to anger because he got involved with the practices of false religion. You cannot combine Christianity with other religions because it provokes our blessed Lord Jesus who died for us, to jealousy. The Apostles taught the same.
1 Cor 10:19-22 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? 20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. 21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils. 22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?
As a husband how would you feel if your wife was involved with other men? How do you think our blessed Lord feels when certain people who profess to love Him get themselves involved with the practices of false religions?
The devil is alive and well on planet Earth and is leading people away from serving and obeying our Lord Jesus Christ. He’s trying to lead them away from biblical truth and educate them in the ways of the heathen. Remember shortly before the return of Jesus Christ the Antichrist will claim to be God over all religions and is trying to consolidate all religions into one as we speak.
There is a group known as the world council of churches who are trying to do this very thing through ecumenism. It’s not a group of churches, it’s an abomination. They join together and worship with people who are active in false religions, even devil worshippers. These events are well documented and I would suggest that you open up your eyes to the truth of what’s going on in this world.
2 Kings 22:17 Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and shall not be quenched.
So when you think about bringing a tree into your home to decorate it, claiming that it’s a Christian tradition, remember this tidbit of information that I read in a history book…
The Romans hung small metal ornaments on trees. Each of these little ornaments represented a god, such as Saturn.
Never attempt to mix Christianity with heathen practices because it is they who must convert to Christ and His traditions of the Church. If they are caught up in false religion, you are not even supposed to receive them into your home, much less their practices.
2 John 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
I beg you, please don’t provoke the Lord to jealousy by putting up a…..
…..Heathen Tree
