The Boiling Point

A common sight in a kitchen today, the tea kettle has been around for thousands of years. It is said that the first tea kettles originated in Mesopotamia around 3500 B.C., although the whistling tea kettle which we know today was invented in the late 1800’s. This tea kettle was different from all of the others, as it had a sort of an “alarm.” As soon as the water in the kettle reached the boiling point of 212 degrees Fahrenheit the steam escaping from the spout would produce a shrill “whistle,” giving warning that the water was ready.

What happens if you do not listen to the warning of the whistle and take that tea kettle off of the heat? The water will completely boil away. It will evaporate and be gone.

In similar way, the whistle of a tea kettle is like a warning in the Bible about the impending wrath that will happen to those who choose to disregard or ignore God’s commands to turn away from sin.

Romans 2:1-6  “Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.

And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

Who will render to every man according to his deeds:”

The Bible is filled with wisdom and teachings that we can use in our lives to prepare ourselves for a future spent with the Lord in Heaven. It also gives us warnings of what will happen if we do not follow the teachings of God. Mercy, grace, and forgiveness are things that the Lord has an infinite amount of, but a person is limited by the length of their life to receive them. As we just read, God will reward everyone according to their deeds. Whatever you sow, that is what you will reap (Galatians 6:7).

Have you ever heard the expression “the straw that broke the camel’s back?” The meaning of it is going too far with something. You may have a grocery bag that normally should hold 10 pounds of food, but going too far is adding one more thing, one more thing, and maybe another, until the limit of that bag is reached and the bag breaks. You knew that you probably should have stopped where it was, but you continued to add more and more, and you suffered the consequences.

Ephesians 2:4-5  “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)”

The forgiveness of God is amazing! His mercy is incredible! It is unending His love towards us. But we are limited by the days if our lives. We don’t have time to waste. Each day is a gift from God, one more day in which we have the opportunity to repent. We only have so much time in our life to make the decision to turn away from our sins, and this is why it is all the more important that we come to the Lord for His forgiveness today, heeding the warning before the kettle runs dry.

In Christ,

Andrew

(Andrew is no longer a part of this ministry, as he purposely lied, deceived me, and then betrayed me. I baptized him when he was 5 years old. He’s been having communion with me for 22 years. Children are taught to be what they are, and they become a replication of what their dad is; right up until the point they choose to go their own way. The actions that he took against me are everything that I am not, and he is fully aware of that. The things that he did were done willfully and with intent, and are completely against the teachings of Christ. Although many of these writings are helpful, he completely abandoned this calling, and joined up with the world instead. Nothing can dictate Our lives more than a love for Christ Jesus and being chosen to His service, but he chose to love the world instead.)
