Karens Kool-aid

Good morning and welcome in everybody.  Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.

Many years ago, there was a woman who liked to make Kool-Aid for us.  She was attempting to do something really nice, but the first few times that we drank it, we knew that there was something off about it.  When she poured it from the picture into our glasses, it sure looked cool and refreshing, but as soon as you tasted it, you could tell that something was wrong.  We realized later that she was missing a good portion of the main ingredient, sugar.  Appearances sure can be deceiving. Although at first glance, it appeared to be Kool-Aid, when you tasted what was on the inside, you quickly realized that it was only red colored water.

This reminds me of the Christian Life.

Sometimes in life, things don’t appear to be what they seem.  Someone may be dressed in terrible clothes, but on the inside, they might be the nicest person that you have ever met. At other times, you can meet people who appear loving, kind and sincere on the exterior, but it’s only a hoax because deep within the hidden part of their heart they are filled with bitterness and hate. They are a complete fraud.  This is why you should never judge by outward appearances, because what you see is not always what you get.

John 7:24  Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

There are many people who profess to be Christian, who flock to follow others, simply because they wear a robe or a three-piece suit.  There is an old saying that clothes don’t make the man.  Others can appear like one of God’s sheep, while the truth is that they are only a ravenous wolf on the inside.  They are filled with deception and trickery, which is a work of the devil.   Jesus gave many warnings about these types of people.

Matthew 7:15  Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

As I have said for many years, the wolf wants to get into the barn to steal sheep. The devil wants to get into the church and lead people astray from faithfulness to Christ.   These religious frauds are all over today, and growing in number, but they are easy to identify if you simply take them to scripture. If they openly reject God’s Will from His Word, no matter how religious they may appear on the outside, no matter how many times they go to church, no matter how many Bible studies they might attend, they certainly are not of God. Remember that there were numerous people who came out to hear Jesus preach, feigning themselves to be just men, but there were actually wolves in sheep’s clothing.  They were spiritual frauds. They didn’t come to hear God’s Word preached in order to grow in their faith.  They only wanted to find fault with Jesus. God’s Word is truth, so when people reject it, you know that they are living and believing a lie.

John 8:47  He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

There is a great difference between hearing something with your ears, and hearing it with your heart. Some people have ears, but they hear not.  You can give one of your children instructions, and then ask them if they heard what you said, but it is their obedient actions that really proves that they heard you with their heart.  When people hear the Word of God preached, and they don’t want to do what it says, they only prove that they really didn’t hear it at all.

1 John 4:6  We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

Many people profess to love the Lord Jesus, but they deny obedience to the life of a Christian.  As the old saying goes, it goes in one ear and out the other.  Instead of accepting the truth, some of them try to justify their own sinful living.  They try to twist scripture so it fits their own lifestyle and worldly ideologies.

John 14:23-24  Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.  He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.

God loves us in the fact that he gives us the opportunity to repent and transform into people who do His will.  Those who reject that process are going to be turned away at the judgment and be punished eternally.  As the Apostle taught, God is no respecter of persons.  Scripture is a rock that cannot be moved, yet some people try to explain that it has somehow evolved since it was written, and that we are now living in different times. Oh,we are certainly living in different times, times of great spiritual wickedness and rebellion against God.  Times of great spiritual disobedience, just as the Apostles warned would come.  Times of a great falling away from the truth.  They have a form of godliness even appearing to be Christian, but they deny the truth of the Christian Life.

2 Timothy 3:1-5  This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

God’s Word hasn’t changed, it is the world around us that has changed.  It is the world that must submit and convert to the teachings of Christ, not the Church converting to the world. These things happen because people love their sins more than Christ. As the Lord Jesus taught, will there be faith on the Earth when He returns?  It’s not going to get better, it’s going to get a whole lot worse, led by spiritual frauds, false prophets, Jezebel the rebellious woman bible teacher, and grievous wolves among the sheep.  Never judge by outward appearances. Use the sword of God’s Word to determine the state of the heart underneath. Take them to scripture to determine those who want to be faithful to Christ, and those who are frauds.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15  For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

So what you see on the exterior, is not always whats inside, just like……
