Take A Look

During the time that I went to school I learned, as everyone should have, the basic building blocks of knowledge. How to add and subtract, how to spell, how to use proper English, the study of science, and the history of the world.

Something that has stuck in my mind over all these years was that during a class, usually science or history, we would all take turns reading aloud from a part of the textbook, and at the end the teacher would ask the students in the class a specific question about what they had just read about. For example, we may have learned about the three ships that Columbus used to cross the Atlantic Ocean in 1492, and the teacher would ask a student, “What were the names of those three ships called?” It almost never failed that there would be at least one student who couldn’t come up with the answer. They would just sit there with no answer and mumble, “I don’t know.” “What do you mean, you don’t know?” the teacher would say. “We just read it a moment ago. Look at the page in the book that is sitting right in front of you, the answer is right there.” And it was. There was absolutely no excuse for not knowing the answer, because it was clearly written directly on the page in front of their face. They just didn’t bother to even look.

And you may say the exact same thing about people who “listen” to a preacher teaching from the Bible, but none of that information seems to make it through to them. The sad truth is that there will be many people who say that they are Christians, but do not know or do what the Bible says.

There is no reason why people should not know what they need to do as Christians, because everything that they need to know is right there in front of them in the pages of the Bible. It’s right there! Everything that anyone needs to know about the faith of Christ can be found in God’s Word, you just need to take a look and you will see.

Psalms 119:105  Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

People will have no excuse on Judgement Day if they are turned away from the gates of Heaven. They have their entire life to study the Scriptures and apply the teachings found in it to their lives, and any question that they may have, any command that they need to know, they are all found inside those covers. There is no excuse for not knowing the answers.

2 Timothy 3:14-17  But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Need an answer about something in your faith in Christ? Look in the Bible. Do you have a question about what things are unpleasing to God? Search the scriptures. Every answer that you need to know about serving the Lord can be found if you take the time to look at God’s Word that is right in front of you. Open it up and take a look.

In Christ
