Following the Signs

Have you ever gone up to a door and tried to push it open, but couldn’t? You pushed and pushed, yet the door wouldn’t budge, and then you noticed the sign on the door that said “pull”? All of that time and effort that you spent trying to open the door was all pointless because of your failure to notice the sign.

Have you ever been driving down a one way road but encountered someone driving right towards you going the wrong way? If someone does this then it is almost assured that they failed to pay attention to the sign that said either One Way or Do Not Enter. If that driver had seen those signs and gave heed to their instructions then they would have not been in that situation.

Matthew 13:14-15  And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

People have the Bible available, to read, to study, to learn from. All of the information that one truly needs can be found in the Bible, as the information inside, if used correctly, will lead a person’s soul to everlasting life. It’s all there, easier to obtain than at any other time in history. A book, the book that contains the words of the Lord, available for all to have.

The Bible is, as I have probably said many times before, like a road map or an instruction manual. And just as a map will show you the roads that you must take to get to a destination or an instruction manual will tell you in which order certain steps must be done to construct something, the Bible tells it’s readers the key to eternal life. It gives the reader all of the knowledge that they need; what things are pleasing to the Lord and the things that are not. These things are just like a sign that I referenced earlier, and it is up to each individual if they are going to read and heed those instructions.

Sadly, there will be many people who will not be in Heaven. This is a very sad truth, because if they would simply do what the Lord taught then they too could be among those who are written in the Book of Life, but instead they will turn their ears away from the truth, and believe lies.

2 Timothy 4:3-4  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

You can place a list of rules, commands, instructions etc in front of someone, but you can’t make them obey them. They need to do that on their own. They must make the decision to do this or that. They must make the decision to follow Jesus or if they are going to serve the devil. They need to make the decision if they are going to follow those signs.

In Christ
