The Sailfish

Good morning and welcome in everybody.  Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.

A lot of people live in coastal areas, and when they go down to the beach or venture out onto the ocean this summer, many of them will have the opportunity to see a few sailboats. But if they grabbed some goggles and decided to snorkel around for a few hours, they might be able to take a look under the water and find a fish that looks very much like a sailboat. It’s a fairly big fish and when mature can reach up to 11 feet long and weigh over 200 pounds.  What sets it apart from others is that it has a huge dorsal fin that looks just like a sail. It reminds me of one of the jib sails from our catamaran, and looks like it comes completely furnished with battens. The sailfish can cruise at speeds far faster than most boats can achieve. Many people claim that the sailfish is the world’s fastest fish, and has been clocked at speeds over 68 mph, holding the record for the highest speed of any marine animal. Usually their sails are kept folded down, but are raised when they are ready to go into attack mode.  Like an old vessel that would open up its gunports at the first sign of danger, this fish will raise up its sail, flying quickly into battle to fight with the enemy.

This reminds me of the Christian Life.

Although the sailfish is very quick, God’s justice is quicker.  When God’s children are persecuted and caused to suffer, God is watching. When His obedient servants are hated by the world, God is watching. When they cry out in their prayers to God for deliverance and justice, God hears them, and with greater speed than any sailfish, God will come quickly to their aid, and avenge them speedily, giving the enemy a full broadside of His vengeance.

Luke 18:7-8  And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?  I tell you that he will avenge them speedily…..

Christians are forbidden to go to law with others, whether it’s law enforcement or Earthly courtrooms, but we really don’t have to go to these places to find justice, because we can petition God to punish those who have committed wickedness against us. When we refuse to get involved with lawsuits or court proceedings, it shows God that we trust in Him and His deliverance. Moses never went to an Earthly courtroom to plead for justice for the Israelites. He gave the matter to the judge of judges who repetitively punished the wickedness of pharaoh and his nation with plagues, disease, and death. God has not changed since then, and will continue to punish those who do wickedly against his faithful servants. Although many places on this Earth don’t use the authority that they have been granted by God to pursue Justice, God’s justice will never fail, both now and forever. God is Not mocked, and every soul will eventually encounter a reckoning with the justice of God Almighty.

Galatians 6:7-8  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.  For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

We must also remember that the authority of certain judges on this Earth can be limited and only extends to their specific county or state.  The authority of a king usually prevails over his own country.  But the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the source of all authority, can punish anyone He desires across the entire face of the Earth.  His jurisdiction knows no boundaries and He will swiftly avenge the petitions of His chosen. He will quickly punish the wicked deeds that have been committed towards His children.  God extended the life of Solomon, but can quickly shorten the lives of the wicked and eventually cast them into the abyss. We must not avenge ourselves, but rather give place unto  wrath.  We must give the matter to God, and I guarantee you that His Justice will be performed and administered quickly.

Romans 12:19  Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Many people even claim to be spiritual while the truth is that they are only a wolf in sheep’s clothing. They are false apostles, false prophets and false teachers, leading people away from the truth in the attempt to get them to believe a lie.

Matthew 3:7-8  But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?  Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

Just as the waters of the Red Sea destroyed the armies of pharaoh, and the great floods destroyed the wickedness of this world, their destruction will come upon them swiftly,

2 Peter 2:1  But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

God will inflict punishment upon all those who persecute his servants.

Psalms 18:47  It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.

Each day people appeal decisions made in Earthly courtrooms, but the persecuted saints appeal to the maker and creator of every place of justice in this world.  When they cry out mightily to God, He hears them, and will avenge them quickly and decisively.   An Earthly court cannot do things that God can. They can only impose temporary punishments of the flesh, while God can punish the soul, both now and eternally. God can bring plagues upon the wicked. He can bring storms of destruction to destroy entire cities.  He can burn down their towns as he did with Sodom and Gomorrah. He can bring sickness upon those who mock him. No matter how high in society one may be, we learn from the life of Pharaoh that no one is untouchable concerning God’s vengeance.  He can bring pestilence and desolation upon the impenitent. He can bring the scourge of suffering to the heretic, and death and damnation to the lying hearts of the shameless. If a saint is praying to God to avenge them for something that you have done, I guarantee you, God’s punishment is quickly approaching on the horizon.

1 Thessalonians 4:6  That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

As Jesus spoke about an unjust judge, those who have maligned and misused their place of justice will themselves have to answer to Christ for their misdeeds. As God punished pharaoh, God will punish them quickly, whether they believe in Him or not. Those who decisively reject justice, will enter into a place from which there is no reprieve, and without any hope of early release. Those who are highly esteemed among men are an abomination in the sight of God. It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor, great or small, God’s justice will be applied equally and permanently to the impenitent because there is no respect of persons with Him. His Justice is not found on a ballot, or bought with unrighteous mammon. His Justice will prevail upon the heads of the wicked. The kingdom of heaven is at hand, so I beg anybody who will hear my voice.  Repent now before you lose your souls.  Turn to Christ and his mercy before you are turned into the abyss of hell.

Matthew 3:12  Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

God will deliver those who fear Him.

Psalms 34:17  The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

Psalms 34:7  The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

When God’s obedient saints are persecuted and caused to suffer, God is watching. He opens His heart unto them, and hears their cry.  He will come quickly to their aid, and avenge them speedily, giving the enemy a flurry of His vengeance, and a broad side of his wrath, with greater speed than that of….
