Pulled Out Of The Lake

If you were out fishing in the middle of a lake in a boat and you saw someone starting to drown as they swam towards you, would you go over to them, reach in and pull them out of the lake? They clearly are in need of saving, and want to be saved, so would you let them into your boat?

The Bible teaches us that Jesus will not turn away anyone who comes to Him and believes on Him. He is filled with an abundance of love and wants to save sinners from the penalty of their sins, and give them life.

John 6:35-40  And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.

All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Jesus came so that sinners could have life, and have it more abundantly (John 10:20) and does not want anyone to perish (2 Peter 3:9.) Through His sacrifice on the cross Jesus essentially stretched forth His arms, one to the Father in Heaven, and the other to everyone else on the Earth who will take it, and bridges the gap between by offering eternal life if they will just believe in Him.

It is only through Jesus that this eternal life can be found, contrary to what a large portion of the world wants to believe. Many people certainly want to believe that they are going to be in Heaven or a place of eternal paradise, but unless their path leads them through Jesus Christ they will not get there.

John 11:25-26  Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

We all are dead because of our sins, without Christ in our lives. It is sin that caused the separation from the Garden of Eden, it is because of sin that we die, and it is because of unrepentance of those sins that people will suffer damnation. But Jesus does not want this for people. He wants to save us from our sins, calling out for us to take His hand so that we may be saved.

When you stop to really think about it, how incredible is it that Jesus came to this Earth and died, just so that His people could be saved? And He did not die just for those who were good, He died for the bad as well, offering His forgiveness and mercy to all. What an amazing display of love!

This Earth is that lake in which we are drowning in, and Jesus is in the boat, His hand outstretched and waiting for someone to grab it. Will you be one of those who He saves?

In Christ
