God’s House

If you are preparing to go and visit a special landmark or area that requires that you travel across the country to go and see, you will likely need to have some place to stay while on your vacation. You might need a hotel for a few nights, or maybe you may have a friend in the area who will let you stay with them for those few days. Either way, isn’t it a huge relief to know ahead of time that there is a place for you to stay, instead of having to worry about it after you get there?

Jesus went back to be with the Father nearly two thousand years ago, and during that time He has been preparing a place for the faithful who have served Him to stay when He takes them to the heavenly kingdom.

John 14:1-4  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

Jesus says that in God’s house are many mansions. When you think of a mansion what do you see? An incredibly huge house! Now imagine a mansion so big that it houses many mansions. That’s God’s house, and it is waiting for the faithful to inhabit some day.

We are supposed to store up our riches in Heaven Jesus taught, by not being concerned with what we can acquire on the earth in terms of wealth and riches and possessions, but instead we should focus on storing up the riches in Heaven. I see all the time stories of men who have collected and amassed entire warehouses full of collector cars, their houses full of the finest of things that money can buy them, but yet they aren’t rich towards the things of God.

What do we need to get by in life? How much do we need? The things of the Earth are fleeting objects that are made only to be eventually destroyed, but the things in Heaven will last forever. We can have those things if we serve the Lord Jesus, Who will one day take us to be with Him in God’s house

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Jesus will return, just as He has promised it. We do not need to be afraid or uncertain, what Christ has said He will perform, and in His Word we may have comfort in this promise. That day is coming soon, we just need to have patience and wait.

James 5:7-8  Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

In Christ
