Saving A Soul From Death

If you saw your child walking with a box of matches towards a full gas can, what would you do? Hopefully you would take both the matches and the gas and put them away where they couldn’t be accessed! The reason why is because you love your child very much and do not want anything to happen to them that would harm them, and matches and a full can of gas are two things that can cause serious injuries and death if not taken care of.

Everyone makes mistakes, this should be abundantly clear to anyone, but it is those mistakes that we must learn to stop making so that we can become better. Likewise, if we see someone making those mistakes we should try to convince them that they need to make certain changes and adjustments so that they may overcome their faults and not do it anymore.

James 5:19-20  Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;

Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

An err is a mistake or a failure to adhere to proper or accepted standards, which in Christianity, an err is “sin,” as it is the deviation away from the teachings of the Lord in the Bible. It is those sins which we must turn away from and become converted to serving Christ.

The church of God is a family, a spiritual one in which we all must remain under the rule and authority of the heavenly Father. And just like an earthly family who should all be filled with love towards one another and helps each other to overcome failures and mistakes, as Christians we should try to convince others to turn away from the sins in their life, and become converted to the Lord. Sin is what keeps us out of Heaven and we must strive to remove keep ourselves from those sins that would keep us out of Heaven.

John 5:24  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

1 Timothy 4:16  Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

We all make mistakes, and we all have sinned, even the apostles of the Lord sinned and made mistakes, but they overcame their faults and became better. They conquered their sins, and did not let it have the reign over them, but instead turned themselves to serving Christ.

Romans 6:12-13  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Just like an earthly family, let us help and exhort each other to completely remove sin from our lives. If we see someone who is erring from the path of holiness, it is our duty to try to convert and steer them back into the way of the Lord. If we can do this we will save their souls from death.

In Christ
