Good morning and welcome in everyone. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.
I have homeschooled all six of my young children. Christian women cannot teach, and because of this, I needed to rise up to my responsibility to educate them. When I first moved out into the woods, I didn’t want my children’s values to be structured according to what the world teaches and believes. I have always wanted the things that they learned to be centered around the teachings of Christ. This is why we have had morning and evening lessons each day since they were born.
Remember that the further into the world you become, the more that you can be influenced by its behaviors. After all, how many children have gotten into trouble at school because they spent a lot of time hanging out with the wrong crowd. This is why it’s biblically mandated to keep separate from the world. Poor associations can corrupt good morals. Developing close relationships in the world can result in picking up philosophies and ideologies that go completely against the teachings of Christ. It seems that many men are more concerned about making money these days, rather than helping their kids grow up as God fearing, obedient children. This is because it requires our time. In order to complete this task, I tried to create jobs where I could be home most of the day with my family.
For example, a farmer might have his entire family milking cows together, but then, he sits down at the breakfast table to educate his children. This is a quality in men that is quickly disappearing. Men need to rise up and become a part of teaching and saving their own children. They claim that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and the family is very much like a chain that is grouped together. The devil will go after the weakest part of your family first, which normally begins with your children. They want to steal them away, lie to them, and turn their minds away from our faith.
Some parents send them off to school for 8 hours a day, and are lucky to see them for half an hour at bedtime. They use the school as a babysitter, so they can go out and make even more money. Whose values do you think they are going to learn when they spend that much time away from their own dad? Why do you think that there are so many children who have been led astray from obedience to Christ? Children do not need thousands of dollars of possessions, what they need is a dad, one that is fully engaged in teaching them biblical things. A man needs to provide for his own home, but in the church, whether it’s a dad, or his own children, they need to learn to be content with such things as they have.
1 Timothy 6:8-10 ⁸ And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. ⁹ But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
The most important thing that you can give children is your time. A lot has changed in 200 years. Early frontiersmen would head out into the wilderness to raise crops and their families. Back then they had ample amount of time to educate them. Nowadays, people work 40 to 70 hours a week in an attempt to increase their bank accounts. They completely forget about the guidance that is required by a dad, and just like the movie Scrooge, they miss out on all the meaningful things of life.
Matthew 13:22 “He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.”
Matthew 19:23-26 ²³ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. ²⁴ And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. ²⁵ When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? ²⁶ But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Moses could have had a family in Egypt, but he left all of its wealth behind in order to raise a new family out in the desert. He chose the simple life, and separated himself just as scripture teaches.
2 Corinthians 6:14-18 ¹⁴ Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? ¹⁵ And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? ¹⁶ And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. ¹⁷ Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, ¹⁸ And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Children must be separated from the world and raised in the teachings of Christ. They must be raised and educated by the man of the house. There are some very conservative Christian communities that fully understand this principle. You must come out and be separate, and this includes your children. I was at the library one time, having a discussion with a man about raising children. He said…” all you can do nowadays is keep your kids in a box, because there is so much wickedness that’s going on in the world.
Do you love your child? If your child was standing on a highway and just about to get hit by a car, would you run out to save them, or run after another dollar bill? People will quickly say that they don’t love money, but then send them off to somebody at a school, or even a false church who is teaching them things that completely destroy their core beliefs in Christ. Many people will quickly say that time is money. If you want fruit someday, you don’t need to be raising a building. Be content, because it is the poor who are blessed by God. Take the time to raise your child up in the way that they should go. Remember men that it all starts……
