If you give two young children each a sucker or other piece of candy they’ll usually both be happy. Now if one of those children went up to the other and took away their piece of candy and threw it onto the ground and covered it with dirt, what is the usual response? The one child will get extremely angry, won’t they?
But in order to calm the child down, something that a parent can do is get another brand new candy and give it to them, thus undoing what had happened, and bringing peace between the children once again. This type of action is called mediation, and a “mediator” is a person who attempts to make people involved in a conflict come to an agreement, also called a “go-between.” This is exactly what Jesus is, because He is the Person Who mediates and makes things right between God the Father and the sinners of the world.
1 Timothy 2:5-6 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
It is sin that separates people from God in Heaven, much like the invisible barrier that is created when you turn magnets a certain way. One way the magnets will snap right towards each other, but if you turn one of the magnets the opposite way they will oppose each other, kept separate by the magnetic force, and what Jesus has done by dying on the cross is like He is turning one of those magnets around so that we can go to be with the Father.
Sin is something that is not present in the Kingdom of Heaven, and it is something that greatly displeases the Lord when it is committed. But the Lord Jesus knew that sinners needed a way to overcome their sins, which is why He gave Himself up to the death on the cross to offer forgiveness and mercy to all who call upon Him. Jesus became the mediator between God and man, bringing back the lost sinners to the Father.
Matthew 20:28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
The key to eternal life is found only in Jesus Christ, and it is only through Him that we can be saved. There is no other way, although many people will try, they will all fail to get to Heaven if they do not go through Jesus and repent of their sins.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Acts 4:10-12 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Jesus has stretched out His hand to you, and to all, and He is just waiting for someone to grab a hold so that He can bring them to the Father. Will that person be you?
In Christ
Andrew
