The Door

Good morning and welcome in everybody.  Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.

Back in 2009, in Seoul, South Korea, an artist and designer decided to build a very interesting piece of art. He created a very bright colored 10 story building, using approximately 1,000 recycled doors. It’s quite a sight to see if some of you get the chance to look at some of the pictures online. Each of us open doors everyday, whether it’s your front door, your children’s bedroom, or even a storage closet. But with so many doors available, there are a lot of wrong choices that one can make, because they don’t all lead to the same place.

This reminds me of the Christian Life.

They claim that there are over 4,000 recognized religions in the world, but Christianity teaches us that there is only one path to heaven.  In order to someday access eternal life, there is only one way you will get there. The door to heaven is found through God’s only begotten Son Jesus Christ.

John 10:7-10. ⁷ Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.  ⁸ All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. ⁹ I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.  ¹⁰ The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

For years, many people have tried to find the path to immortality and eternal life, but nobody will be able to attain it, apart from Jesus Christ.  He is the access point by which we must pass through in order to be reunited with the Heavenly Father.  It is He that has been set forth as a propitiation for our sinfulness.

John 14:5-6  ⁵ Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?  ⁶ Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus is the narrow passageway that we must take in order to be reconciled with the heavenly Father. Today there are many people who are trying to find alternative routes to eternal life, but there is only one way there, through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. It’s a narrow path, and few there are going to be that find it.

Matthew 7:13-14. ¹³ Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:  ¹⁴ Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Luke 13:22-30. ²² And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.  ²³ Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,  ²⁴ Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.  ²⁵ When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:  ²⁶ Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.  ²⁷ But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.  ²⁸ There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.  ²⁹ And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.  ³⁰ And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.

We must come to the Lord Jesus and receive Him as our savior. To those who believe in Him can receive remission for all of their sins.

Acts 4:12. “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

1 Timothy 2:5-6. ⁵ For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;   ⁶ Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Matthew 1:21  “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”

Acts 10:43  “To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.”

The only way to obtain forgiveness with God is through Jesus Christ. Sin will be punished by God, and Jesus came to free us from our bondage to sin.

John 8:24. “I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.”

Romans 10:8-10. ⁸ But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;  ⁹ That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  ¹⁰ For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

John 10:1-6. ¹ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

² But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.  ³ To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.  ⁴ And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

⁵ And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.  ⁶ This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.

Remember that there are not 1,000 doors to get to heaven, there is only one. We must place our faith in the Savior that God sent to redeem us. Jesus is The pathway to heaven, and through Him is preached the forgiveness of sins.  It’s time for everyone to confess faults to God, and begin a new relationship with Him, by turning from your sins, and taking a walk through……
