Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.
How many times have you bought a piece of handcrafted furniture, knowing that it was an original, and no matter how much you might search the local stores, you would never be able to find anything like it. I enjoy playing chess, and many years ago my wife sewed together a big chess board that was made completely out of fabric. She designed and hand crafted each piece out of paper mache. Although you can find a chess board practically anywhere you go, mine was special because it is an original, and the only one of its kind.
This reminds me of the Christian Life.
Like my chessboard, the Christian faith is one of a kind. It was once delivered to the saints handed down by the Apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. You will find none other like it, because there is only one true faith.
“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” — Jude 1:3
All around us, we are surrounded by a sea of false Christianity, filled with heretical beliefs and false teachings. It looks like Christianity, It sounds like Christianity, but it’s not Christianity. This is because they abide not in the doctrines and teachings originally given to the church thousands of years ago. Each day we must fight to abide in the one true faith, because this false form of religion will only grow worse and worse. Just like a canker, it continues to spread. They quickly profess that they know God, but in works deny Him, completely rejecting obedience and submission to the will of God.
Titus 1. ¹⁵ Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.¹⁶ They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
They prove by their own actions that they really don’t love God, and are like a rebellious child, who expects that somehow, they will be rewarded for complete and wilful disobedience.
Romans 2. ⁷ To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: ⁸ But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
Take a good look around you, because this false form of Christianity is beginning to be revealed, filled with defiance and resistance to the one true faith.
“And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”

There is only one true faith, and it was established two thousand years ago by the Apostles of Christ Jesus. There is only one gospel, and it was given once to the saints. Once is defined as one time, and no more. We must continue to abide in the true faith, because those who are perverting the truth will reap their own reward soon enough.
Galatians 1. ⁶ I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: ⁷ Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. ⁸ But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. ⁹ As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
Although many people in the world attempt to change God’s Word, they are only fighting a battle that they will eventually lose in the end. This is because the Word of God set forth by the original Apostles of Christ, is unchangeable and unmovable. Throughout the centuries, people have tried to make the Bible fit the world, rather than allowing themselves to be conformed by its precepts. They look out at the world and assume that because everybody else is doing it, then what they are doing is right. They believe that if it’s acceptable at one church, then it must be okay. This is because they use the world as their examples and role models, rather than the Apostles of Christ and Holy Scripture. We are supposed to look to God’s Word for guidance, not the world. We do not make biblical teachings fit the world, it is the world that must repent and conform to the will of God.
We live in a world that is constantly changing around us, like a fashion trend that changes from month to month. Like a ship without an anchor, society floats around from one idea to the next, constantly modifying its ideologies and philosophies from one day to the next. One day they will drift to left, and the next day they will drift to the right. Something acceptable yesterday is wrong today, but next month it will be acceptable once again. Like waves on the ocean, their minds waver back and forth, because they are not grounded in the unmovable rock of God’s Word.
With so much of this indecision going on, we must strive for the one true faith. To contend, means to strive against difficulties, to fight, and to do battle. Rather than obeying the will of God, people in these latter days have published numerous perversions of the scriptures. Remember that the Bible is one of the most published books in the world, so all one has to do is to alter it here, and to change it a little there, copyright it, promote it, put it on the market, and then all of a sudden the money starts pouring in. They would have been better off writing their own novel, rather than altering the prophecies and the teachings of sacred scripture. You couldn’t pay me enough money to trade places with them. The Bible is not something that is politically correct, it is Spiritually correct. Rather than change their lives and submit to biblical teachings, they change what the Bible says, in an attempt to justify their own sinful behavior. Never allow yourself to be led astray with them, but build yourself up in the one true faith.
Jude 1. ¹⁷ But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; ¹⁸ How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. ¹⁹ These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
²⁰ But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, ²¹ Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Ephesians 4 ⁴ There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; ⁵ One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
We must strive for the faith that was originally given to the saints. It is the original, that was handed down by the Apostles of Jesus Christ. There is only one faith that was ever created, and I remember that, each time I sit down at the table, and dig out….
