Good morning and welcome in everyone. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture from 1st Corinthians.
“But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.”
— 1 Corinthians 10:20
When I first became a baptized believer about 25 years ago, I never allowed my family to get involved with Halloween. I know the primary reason why some people go is because of all the candy, so I made sure that I had plenty of it available beforehand. We would have a huge October Candy festival instead. Because of conscience to the teachings of scripture I never allowed any of my family to participate in it. The following facts that I’m going to reveal to you are true and real.
Scholars agree that Halloween is a Celtic festival of the false god of death, during which sacrifices were made by the druids. They believed evil spirits such as ghouls, witches, goblins and fairies would be sent to attack humans, playing tricks as soon as darkness set in. So humans would disguise themselves as evil spirits to avoid them. As sick as it sounds, people would actually dress up in costumes when people were being burned to death on that wicked day. They were dressed in animal skins and heads in order to ward off the evil spirits. Halloween is clearly a pagan holiday, A time for the devil and his followers to be active. The Druids believed in order to appease the demons, you had to leave them sweets or you had to dress up like them in a costume. Sounds familiar doesn’t it. Jack-o’-lanterns began in the same pagan practices and is an ancient symbol of a damned soul. Modern day witches celebrate Halloween. The evil wiccans believe it’s the best day for those who practice necromancy to speak to the dead. This is pure evil, which God will eventually destroy in the Lake of Fire. In the Old Testament, witchcraft was punished by death. Exodus 22:18, Leviticus 19:31, 20:6, 20:27
Anybody who professes to be a Christian cannot be tainted with anything that comes from the occult, and the observance of Halloween is exactly that. Those who get involved with it have no fear of God before their eyes.
Deuteronomy 18 ⁹ When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. ¹⁰ There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, ¹¹ Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. ¹² For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. ¹³ Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.
There are numerous New Testament teachings about the occult. to be involved with them is to make yourself God’s enemy. The disciples would cast out devils, not join up with them in their wicked celebrations. Acts 8:9, Acts 13:6, Acts 19, Acts 16.
Another point is that why would anybody who professes to be a Christian celebrate an event that has been condemned by people who converted to our faith. They know what it is because they used to participate in its evil activity, and wholeheartedly rejected it out of obedience to the Lord. False Christians become a stumbling block to those who have left these wicked activities. Would you pop open a bottle and drink it in front of an alcoholic? Why would you involve yourself in something that people have completely renounced and converted from? It’s because you don’t love God or them.
Why would a Christian celebrate a night that is so clearly associated with evil. It’s because they are reprobates according to the faith, and many times too cheap to buy a ton of candy for the kids and play some games at home with them. Like the Passover in Egypt, they kept in their homes. Those who encourage a Christian child to become a part of this, especially those who have been raised to keep their distance from it, are no different than the devil in the garden of Eden. He caused her to do something that she knew went against God’s command. Those who do this are accountable to God, and will be held responsible for their wickedness. They will reap what they sow and it is unavoidable because God will punish their behavior. You must not have any fellowship with the evil works of darkness.
“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.”
— Ephesians 5:11
A Christian life is not to be tainted with anything that goes against God. If it has a background of idolatry, or pagan religion, you are not to get involved with it. The devil is very tricky and will try to make you think that you are doing something acceptable, while it is completely against the will of God. How can anybody possibly claim to love God and participate in something whose origins come from things that are a complete abomination to God? That is utter foolishness and people need to repent or perish. Those who lead you cause you to greatly err.
The Bible forbids any appearance of evil.
“Abstain from all appearance of evil.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:22
Millions of other Spirit-filled Christians believe the same thing that I do, and when you reject what I’m telling you, you are not only calling my testimony a lie, but you are calling all of the rest of them liars too. There is only one Holy Spirit, and if you possess it, you will not be in division with other Holy Spirit filled believers. You will be of one mind with each other. Christians are supposed to be wise, but many of them are foolish and allow themselves and their children to be duped by the devil. Remember the devil doesn’t want you to serve God, but to join in his wicked celebration.
When I first became a Christian I believed in Jesus with all of my heart, and even though I hadn’t read certain passages in the scriptures, the Holy Spirit convicted my heart about the evil activities of Halloween. Remember that Solomon greatly upset the Lord because he was burning incense to false gods. To involve oneself in Halloween is to do the exact same thing. To be involved with anything that has come from false religion is to reject the separation clause found in Scripture. Only the true children of God will obey this commandment.
2 Corinthians 6. ¹⁴ Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? ¹⁵ And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? ¹⁶ And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. ¹⁷ Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, ¹⁸ And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
There is nothing happy about Halloween and should have been taken off the calendar centuries ago. People should have eliminated it from their lives just like I did for my children. God rewards faithfulness when we come out and be separate from the world, and this is one of the reasons why those who claim Christ Jesus as their Lord can have,…..
…..No Fellowship with Halloween
