Good Morning and welcome in everybody. Today we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.
It’s been claimed that every day, approximately 30,000 flights with over 2 million passengers climb high into the sky. That’s quite a few isn’t it, and that is in the United States alone. But before a passenger ever departs, they must first find the right gate. A gate is the area where people will board their aircraft to get to their final destination. There can be quite a few of them, and if you are not paying attention, you can certainly end up waiting at the wrong one. It’s been claimed that the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world, with 195 gates. To find the right gate, one must look at the information on their boarding pass, and follow the prompts that are displayed on various signs and screens throughout the airport.
This reminds me of the Christian Life.
Imagine walking into a room that has 195 different doors, but only one will get you to the place that you want to go. That is ultimately the decision that you need to make at the airport, otherwise you can end up going to the wrong place, or miss your flight completely. Many people claim to believe in God and that they will someday enter into paradise, but not all gates at the airport lead to the same destination, and neither do all pathways lead to eternal life. You can only choose one, and the only way to God the Father and eternal life is found in His only Begotten Son Jesus Christ. There is no other name given to men by which we can be saved.
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
— John 14:6
Many different religions are trying to obtain the same thing, eternal life, but it can only be found through the narrow passageway of forgiveness, that God will only grant when you place your complete faith and trust in His Son, Jesus Christ. The reason why none of us could ever inherit eternal life on our own, is because of our own sinfulness. Sin leads to death, and all of us have sinned.
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” Romans 5:12
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23
“If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” 1 John 1:10
“What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;” Romans 3:9
God is going to punish sin, and in order to enter eternal life, it needs to be taken care of and forgiven by God. The only way that God will forgive, is if you believe in the one whom He has sent as an atonement for the sins of this world. Jesus is the only access point to paradise, a door of grace that each of us must pass through, in order to enter into heaven.
John 10 ⁷ Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
⁸ All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. ⁹ I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
Sin can only be forgiven through Christ. He is the Lamb of God, who was sent by the Heavenly Father as a Savior for our sins. Those who do not believe in Him, will die in a state of sin.
John 8 ²¹ Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. ²² Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come. ²³ And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. ²⁴ I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
Everlasting life is only available through faith in Jesus Christ.
John 6 ²⁸ Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? ²⁹ Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
1 John 5 ¹¹ And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. ¹² He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
“Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.” 2 John 1:9
All across the world many people profess to believe in God, but there is only one God, the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The only way to be saved from the punishment for our sins, is to accept and follow His only begotten Son. Jesus is the perfect replica of the heavenly Father, and the image of the invisible God
“Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:” Colossians 1:15
Jesus is the only access point to paradise.
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
Jesus is the way to heaven, and that path is found throughout the teachings of Holy Scripture. God doesn’t want people to perish, He wants them to repent of their sins. He desires them to call upon the name of His Son, and with a contrite heart, confess your faults. He wants us to become new creatures, and transformed from the old sinners that we used to be, into His saints. God loved this world so much that He sent Jesus to redeem us from our iniquities.
John 3 ¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. ¹⁷ For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
¹⁸ He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Many different religions are trying to take their own path to eternity, but without conversion to Christ Jesus, they will only come up short.
“There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. ” Proverbs 16:25
Matthew 7 ¹³ Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: ¹⁴ Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
So the next time that you enter into an airport and check your boarding pass, make sure that you follow the instructions to get where you need to be. Only one gate will get you to your final destination, just as only one person can get you into heaven. Jesus Christ truly is our…..
