Believe a Lie

Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today we are going to take a look at a passage of Scripture from the book of Romans.

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;” Romans 1:18

We live in a day and age of all kinds of wicked and deviant sexual behavior among many people who profess to be Christian. Some of them have become so arrogant that they actually believe that they are doing the will of God. This is because they…“ hold the truth in unrighteousness.”

The Apostle Paul had a fornicator removed from the church, what do you think he would have done with people involved in same sex relationships? What would he have done to people who had chosen these types of people to places of leadership within their groups? What would he have done with people who were completely contentious with the truth? No doubt, he would have sent them out the front door, and not allow the leaven of sin to affect everyone else. The only thing to learn from somebody who is willfully disobedient, is disobedience. This is why the perfect Son of God was manifested to this world. We can obtain eternal life when we follow His example of obedient living.

“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8

“For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” Romans 5:19

People can never repent of their sins if they actually believe that the sinfulness that they are involved with is acceptable with God. They will never stop or change what they are doing. In the meantime, trying to associate with others who do such behavior is completely against the will of God. The Christian life is about repentance, and those who reject that path certainly will perish and suffer the vengeance of eternal fire.

2 Thessalonians 1 ⁸ In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: ⁹ Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

“Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” Jude 1:7

When we are baptized into the Christian faith, we should feel completely ashamed of what we used to do in our past, but now they are baptizing people who show no evidence of repentance at all. John the Baptist was baptizing people unto repentance, but even then, some people were doing it as a religious act, rather than a wholehearted effort to turn away from sin.

“And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.” Matthew 3:10

Baptism is only one part of the Christian Life, but if you don’t turn away from your sinful living, you won’t go to heaven whether you claim to be a Christian or not. Many people who were baptized are going to end up in hell because they didn’t repent. They never used God’s grace to become a new creature. Sometimes people can be filled up with so much religious pride that they think they can do whatever they want and still obtain eternal life. God is a respecter of no persons and you will reap what you sow. Although God through the riches of his mercy reaches out to this world to save it, those who continue to live in sin will inherit damnation. This is because they believed a lie, rather than the truth of repentance.

Jude 1 ⁴ For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.⁵ I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

This world grows darker every single day, a place that is preparing itself to be consumed by fire. We are surrounded by false apostles and false prophets who aren’t hiding their wicked activities in some closet somewhere. You can easily tell who they are because they manifest the wicked works of darkness right out in the open for all to see. They are shameless frauds, and their numbers will continue to grow until God eventually destroys them all.

“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”  2 Timothy 3:13

People who hold the truth in unrighteousness actually believe that they can continue living outside the teachings of Christ and somehow make it to heaven. They abide in a state of willful impenitence because they believe a lie rather than the teachings of scripture. I guarantee you, if they had any fear of God and truly believed in Christ Jesus, they would depart from all things that are displeasing to Him. Without taking the initiative to do this, they only prove that they are spiritual frauds and they really don’t love Jesus at all.

John 14 ²¹ He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. ²² Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? ²³ Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

²⁴ He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.

We are supposed to keep ourselves in the love of God, and to abide in the love of Christ is to do God’s will from your heart.

“If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.” John 15:10

When people don’t love the truth of scripture, they aren’t going to have a desire to repent, which will ultimately result in their own damnation. God will send them strong delusion, which is one of His punishments for those who reject His will. You can’t convince them otherwise because they are blinded by their own iniquity.

2 Thessalonians 2 ¹⁰ And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: ¹² That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

“But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,” Romans 2:8

Many people will profess to believe in Jesus but to sincerely make that statement one will lovingly accept His teachings and humbly submit to His will. Sin is very deceitful, and will cause somebody to believe something that is not true. This is why we must examine ourselves each day to make sure that we are walking in the truth, because the only alternative to that is….
