Hate Evil

Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today we are going to take a look at a passage of Scripture from John 7.

“The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.” John 7:7

The Lord Jesus Christ created everything that we see in this amazing world. He created the sun and the moon and the stars, and provided us with water and food to eat. He created all the birds in the air and the animals in the field for us to enjoy. Every sunrise that we see, is an expression of His love towards His creation. But when the Lord Jesus Christ came to Earth, He was hated by this world. He was reviled so much that they put him on a cross and murdered Him. Why so much cruelty toward the God who cares for us? Why so much hatred toward the creator of Heaven and Earth? It’s because He testified about its evil works.

There are certain things that this world does not want to hear or listen to. They don’t want someone telling them that what they are doing is wrong and immoral, which is exactly what Christ Jesus did. They don’t want to hear that what they are doing is wicked and evil. They don’t want to hear the truth because they’d rather believe a lie instead. So what they do is hate those who would dare to object to their perverted lifestyles. This is because they are enemies of God, the enemies of the truth, and enemies of the cross. They are tares among the wheat, wicked creatures who were sown by the devil. Jesus spoke out against their evil works, and those who hate Him, hate the Heavenly Father. 

John 15 ²² If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. ²³ He that hateth me hateth my Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.

For thousands of years, true men of God have been despised by this world because they hated evil. A follower of Jesus is supposed to do the same by shining the light of righteousness upon the darkness of this place. Standing up against sin will bring on great reproach, criticism and persecution from the impenitent. But remember, when they cast out your name as evil, God’s blessings are right around the corner.

Luke 6 ²² Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. ²³ Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

1 Peter 4 ¹² Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: ¹³ But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. ¹⁴ If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

John 15 ¹⁸ If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. ¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Those who claim to love Jesus must hate what is evil, because He hates what is evil. 

“Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.” Psalms 97:10

“Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.” Romans 12:9

“The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.” Proverbs 8:13

“Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.” Amos 5:15

You can only experience hatred from the world when you stand up against sin. If you are not getting persecuted, chances are you are not standing up for anything at all. False prophets are loved by this world because they are lying wicked deceivers, but God’s justice will come swiftly against them, for He shall destroy them all.

“Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.” Luke 6:26

2 Peter 2 ¹ But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

² And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

Many people mock God, and refuse to believe the fact that He’s going to punish the wicked in an eternal Lake of Fire. These people have completely lost their minds. They seek Justice in an Earthly courtroom and then they don’t believe God is going to punish the wicked at judgment Day? The prophecy is fulfilled in them, for they are completely confounded. 

“The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.” Jeremiah 22:22

God hates evil so much that He created a place of eternal punishment for all those who are involved with it. 

Romans 2 ⁵ But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; ⁶ Who will render to every man according to his deeds: ⁷ To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: ⁸ But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

Jesus is the truth, and those who love Christ are to hate those who hate Him. This is because they are the enemy of goodness, righteousness and Truth. To become a friend of the world is to make yourself an enemy of God. 

Psalms 139 ²¹ Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? ²² I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

Those who encourage wickedness, will be punished along with the wicked.

“Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.” Proverbs 17:13

Come out from among them and be separate saith the Lord!

“I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.” Psalms 26:5

To truly walk in the will of God is to stand against those who oppose it. To obey the truth, is to resist those who walk in lies. It all comes down to choosing what side you are going to be on. When all is said and done, our Lord Jesus is the author of everything that is good, and if you are going to love Him with a perfect heart, it will require that you..
