Reaping Everlasting Life

Some of the most routine jobs in the world, which, while repetitive, are some of the most important. If you look at something such as farming, that is a job that requires a great deal of dedication to stick with, as you will be doing the same things over and over and over again. When you take a look at the farms with thousands upon thousands of acres of fields of wheat or corn, it takes quite a bit of time sitting in the tractor seat doing the same things repeatedly; driving up and down the fields plowing, planting, fertilizing, and harvesting every year. But someone has to do it, otherwise we wouldn’t have the fresh produce in the store. We wouldn’t have the bags of flour, or the baskets of fruits and berries. If all of the farmers of the world decided that they were tired of farming, this world would become a very hungry place.

If there was no one to continue preaching the Word of God to people, how would anyone hear about Jesus? If there was no one to consistently help others to understand the teachings in the Bible, how would the church of God grow and mature in their faith? What if someone like the Apostle Peter decided that he was “tired” of telling people about Christ; how would he have reached all of the people that he has over the past 2000 years?

Galatians 6:7-10  “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”

Being a Christian really is about counting the cost and knowing what it is that is your purpose for the Lord. Just as a farmer understands all of the time and work that it will take to raise their crops from a seed all the way to the store, a Christian needs to understand that their goal or objective is not a short tenured “summer job” that can be abandoned after a few months. It is a day by day way of life that needs to become our daily routine that we do not deviate from.

Routine is a good thing and it is especially important to be routine with our faith in the Lord, and in our good works towards others. As not everyone in the church may have the same the same gifts or abilities, the life of each believer may differ slightly with the place that Jesus has for them; someone may be a man and they have the gift of evangelism or prophecy, and they should continue to use those gifts regularly. A woman, while not having the same place in the church as a man, can still use her abilities that she has been assigned by the Lord, such as assisting others by taking care of the men or children. But whatever it is that a person’s job is, they need to never allow themselves to become weary in doing good.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18  “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

Whether it be good or bad, a person will reap what they have sown. A farmer will reap the reward of their nature crops, as long as they continue on taking care of it from start to finish. A believer in Christ will receive the rewards for their faithful works to Him as well, if they continue to the end, and never become weary in their faith.

So do not worry! The Lord sees your faith and the works that you do for Him. He is always watching and will definitely reward you. Keep on the straight and narrow path, and one day you will reap everlasting life!

In Christ
