Don’t Forget God’s Word

What do you do when you absolutely have to have something the next day? What do you do to remind yourself? You might set an alarm on your phone, or you could write it down on a piece of paper. Sometimes I will forget and put something in my pockets during the day, something that I will need the next morning when I start working again, so what I do is I will take that item out of my pocket and put it into one of my shoes, so that the next morning when I go get ready I will have to take that thing out of my shoe, and I won’t forget it

Certain things we just must have, or do. We must do them or else there will be a consequence of some sort. When we go to school and learn something new, we will often have to practice it several times before it really starts to stick in our mind. We may take some short check up tests to see if we retained what we learned. I can remember learning something in school as a child and then going on a short break, and when I came back to school I had forgotten a large portion of what I had learned. It was only after refreshing that knowledge in my mind that I fully remembered how to do it.

And just like that, if we don’t keep the Word of God constantly in our minds those teachings might start to be forgotten. We may start to struggle to remember what the Bible says about certain things. Like words drawn in the sand, if we don’t keep up in the knowledge of Christ, those teachings may start to fade away in our minds, which is why we must never neglect it.

2 Peter 1:12-13  Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

As routine as brushing your teeth every morning or making yourself breakfast, we must diligently study God’s Word daily. We must continuously perfect any areas in our lives that need work, and continue to maintain the other areas. Daily study and application of the Bible is like maintaining a mechanical machine, which when it is oiled up properly and kept in good working order will work perfectly, dutifully performing its purpose. Our purpose as Christians is to serve the Lord with our entire heart, soul, and mind, oiled up with the Holy Spirit and meet for His use.

2 Timothy 2:19-21  Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

Day by day. Year after year. We must never forget the will of the Lord, for it is our lifeline to eternal salvation. Don’t let it go!

Hebrews 2:1  Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
