All Of It!

When you think of the word “all” what does it mean? If you read “all” of a book, what percentage of it did you read? 50%? 70%? No, you read the entire thing, all 100% of it. If you gave a cookie to a child and they ate all of it, how much is left? None of it! It’s all gone! They ate all of it.

One time as a young 5 year old child I sat myself down at the kitchen table, as in front of me sat a large bowl of fresh grapes. Now I have always loved grapes, they’re definitely one of my top fruits, but that day I may have liked them a little bit too much. One by one I popped those grapes into my mouth. Bit by bit they disappeared, until after a while I reached into the bowl only to find that they were all gone! Every last single one of them I had eaten. I had eaten them all.

And when I thought about that word “all” I think about the passage that Paul wrote to Timothy:

2 Timothy 3:16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

What word did you notice in the verse above? ALL.  Paul wrote that all Scripture is inspired by God, and as we just learned, that means that every bit of the Scriptures is filled with the Spirit of God. Because while God used men to write the Scriptures, those men were filled up with His Spirit and it is through those Spirit-Filled men that we have the Bible here today. Men like Paul, Peter, James, and John. They were filled with the power of the Holy Spirit and all of their writings that we have today we can look to to learn and grow in our faith.

Whenever we have a question about something concerning our Lord or His purpose and will for us, where can we look? The Holy Scriptures. When we are not certain whether something is right or wrong in God’s sight, where can we find the answer? His holy Word, of course!

Proverbs 2:6-9  For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

Like a lamp that lights up a dark path, God’s Word is a light unto us, guiding us through the sins and darkness of this world, teaching us the ways we must go. All that we need to know is found in God’s Word.

Some people will search through thousands of pages of thousands of books, seeking after knowledge and wisdom. They will try to acquire all sorts of information, yet the only place they need to look is inside pages of the Bible. No other book contains the knowledge that can save a soul. Anything that we need to know to save our souls from eternal damnation we can have right in front of us!

Psalms 119:105  Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

All Scripture is inspired by God! Every bit of it!
