I was always fascinated with combination locks as a child, and I would often play with the locks by locking and then unlocking them, over and over again. It’s kind of silly, I know, but I just loved spinning the dial on the lock until it got to a certain number, then spinning it the opposite way until I got to the next one, going through all of the numbers in the combination until the lock opened. But if you got just one of those numbers in the combination off, even by a digit or two, the lock simply wouldn’t open. You had to have the one, single, only correct combination if you wanted to unlock it. There was only one combination.
Well, just like a combination lock, there is only one way to unlock the door to salvation. There is only one entrance point into Heaven. There is only one way.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Billions upon billions of people have lived on this Earth over the course of history, and I think probably a very large portion of them believed in a place of paradise that they could go to be when they died.
But unless the doorway into that place of paradise is Jesus Christ, they simply will not be able to enter in. Unless a person accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and goes through Him they will not be in Heaven. Many people will try, they will try all kinds of different ways, but unless they have that right combination, unless they have Jesus, they will not receive everlasting life.
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
There are so many different religions in the world today, and many of them profess to believe in a place called Heaven. But try as they might they will never reach that place and live forever if they don’t come to Jesus and go through Him.
John 10:7-10 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Jesus is kind and loving, seeking to save the lost from their sins. He wants to bring all of the lost sheep of the world and lead them into the Kingdom of God, into everlasting life, but the devil will do everything in his power to try to prevent that. The devil will try to lead people away from going to Jesus, trying to steer them away from the narrow path that Jesus has set before us, and onto a wide road that leads only to destruction.
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
There is only one way to Heaven. There is only One Who can save us from our sins and grant us everlasting life. The road isn’t wide, it’s narrow. There is only one combination that opens that lock, and that combination is spelled JESUS.
