Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.
Ever since we moved out into the woods over twenty years ago, we have always had some huge ant piles down by the lake. Occasionally, we will drive up on top of one of them with the four wheeler, just to watch their reaction as they run all over the place to protect their home. Just like the rest of us, ants need food to survive and will go foraging for food together. Many people have claimed that army ants are blind, and in order to communicate their movements with each other, they will leave behind a pheromone trail that the other ants will follow. This system seems to work pretty good, unless the leader gets lost and they begin to follow the wrong trail. The trail can accidentally loop causing all of the other ants to walk continuously in an unending circle. This is known as a death spiral, and remarkably enough, they will continue to circle round and round until they eventually die from exhaustion.
This reminds me of the Christian Life.
Just like army ants, there will be many people who will follow false prophets and be completely led astray from the narrow path of Christ Jesus. Rather than following the truth of scripture, they will follow the pernicious path of the wicked instead. Look around you, because this is exactly what’s going on in the world today. It has become filled with a huge form of false Christianity, places that are filled up with those who are impenitent and reject biblical doctrine. All they are doing is starving themselves, as they march blindly down an unending spiral of death.
2 Peter 2 ¹ But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. ² And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. ³ And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
This huge form of false Christianity was prophesied in the scriptures, something that the Lord Jesus warned about numerous times. Rather than being converted and living faithful and obedient lives, they will live disobedient and reprobate lives instead.
Luke 13 ²² And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.
²³ Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, ²⁴ Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
²⁵ When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: ²⁶ Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
²⁷ But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. ²⁸ There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
A great majority of people are going to follow false prophets, something that is to be expected. But those who reject the path of Spiritual knowledge, do so to their own peril.
Matthew 7 ¹³ Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Some people think that just because it has a tall steeple and a cross on top, that it must be a church. But the Lord Jesus taught that we are not supposed to judge by appearances.
“Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” John 7:24
If you were to look on the inside of somebody’s heart, you might find something completely different.
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” Matthew 7:15
2 Corinthians 11 ¹³ For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. ¹⁵ Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
Many people are going to follow the heresies of false prophets. Scriptures teach that there is only one true faith, and it is found in the original teachings of the Apostles.
Jude 1 ³ Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. ⁴ For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Nowadays, these false churches are so far away from the truth of scripture that men serve and follow women, rather than the Lord Jesus Christ. They have women preaching and teaching Holy Scripture which is absolutely forbidden in Scripture. False prophets have them teaching Sunday schools and ordain them to places of leadership. Women were created to serve men, not the opposite way around, and it’s no wonder why so many children are confused about their own sexuality. When men begin to hearken and follow women, they destroy the path toward their own salvation.
“As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.” Isaiah 3:12
True men of God don’t allow women in places of authority over other men, because it is disorderly and usurps the will of God.
1 Timothy 2 ¹¹ Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. ¹² But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. ¹³ For Adam was first formed, then Eve. ¹⁴ And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
Just like the army ants, those who follow them are going to end up in the ditch with them.
“Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.” Matthew 15:14
2 Timothy 4 ³ For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; ⁴ And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Many people are going to be led astray by false prophets. Rather than following Christ, some men will follow and obey women instead. This is a path that will go absolutely nowhere, as they continue to march zealously towards an unreachable goal. Just like the ants, they will continue to walk in circles, a path leading only to their own destruction as they enter into…
