Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.
There have been a lot of battles and engagements throughout history, but during the American civil war it’s been claimed that the majority of those who died in that conflict, weren’t killed by gunshot or saber wounds, but rampant disease. Yellow Jack, otherwise known as yellow fever, could create huge problems, resulting in soldiers needing to be hospitalized rather than fighting the enemy. It could quickly destroy an army in a matter of weeks if it wasn’t contained or kept in check.
This reminds me of the Christian Life.
Like a disease, the devil is trying to destroy the true Christian faith by deceiving millions of people to follow a false gospel, one that is socially correct rather than biblically correct. He is trying to infect the entire world with his lies, but the army of God must pick up the sword of Truth and defend the true faith at all costs.
“….. I am set for the defence of the gospel.” Philippians 1:17
Like a soldier standing on a wall, the Apostle Paul was protecting the borders of Truth, even if he was all alone. Men of God must rise up to battle to fight the lies of the devil and preserve the original faith that was once given to the Saints.
Ephesians 6 ¹⁰ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. ¹¹ Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” Jude 1:3
The Apostles repetitively warned the church not to be deceived in these matters.
“That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;” Ephesians 4:14
For many years these false prophets have been putting people into high places of Spiritual authority, people who are complete unbelievers and are active in false religions and other wicked beliefs. This is all being done secretly and hidden from view to the naked eye. They are doing this to seduce and deceive the world, and many have chosen to follow them and their wicked ways, but those who get involved with them will be destroyed swiftly,
2 Peter 2 ¹ But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. ² And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. ³ And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
Matthew 7 ¹³ Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: ¹⁴ Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
These are perilous times that we are passing through, an era when the true teachings of the Christian faith are being turned on its head. The devil is trying to pervert the true faith into a false form of Christianity. The devil is seeking whom he may devour, trying to infect the army of God, but get ready because just like in Egypt, God will bring plagues upon their own heads.
Galatians 1 ⁶ I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: ⁷ Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. ⁸ But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. ⁹ As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. ¹⁰ For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
The Christian life is about personal transformation and submission to the teachings of the Gospel, but now many false prophets, through their great deception, are attempting to change it to fit society. Just like in the garden of Eden, the devil is doing whatever he can to lead people away from the truth by casting doubt on the pure teachings of the original faith. Remember that the devil could care less about the truth because he is a liar. All the devil wants to do is seduce people and get them to follow him rather than the truth of scripture. The original teachings of the gospel don’t fit the world, just like a key doesn’t fit a different lock, so the devil has become a locksmith, picking the lock like a thief and then changing the combination once he’s inside.
“For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.” Mark 13:22
“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” 2 Timothy 3:13
The scriptures clearly teach us that we have the promise of eternal life, but in order to eventually obtain it, we must repent of our sins and do the will of God from our hearts.
“And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” 1 John 2:17
The devil will attempt to convince you that this is not necessary, and try to put your mind at rest. He wants to persuade you that you can still abide in your sinfulness and obtain eternal life. He should wipe the corner of his mouth, because the manure is dripping out.
“While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption:……. 2 Peter 2:19
Just like 2000 years ago, the same religious people have reappeared, slithering into the garden of believers. They will dress in robes or other religious garb in order to dazzle the crowd, but you will know them by their works. Once you strip away their mask, you will only find a wolf who is ready to attack both you and your children. They will claim that they have been ordained, which is correct. Ordained to condemnation.
“For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.” Jude 1:4
“They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him… Titus 1:16
To obtain eternal life, we need to undergo a complete transformation, through repentance and belief of the truth. The devil refuses to do this, so in order to lead people away from God, he will transform himself outwardly, even into an angel of light.
2 Corinthians 11 ¹³ For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. ¹⁵ Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
Scriptures are clear that those who do evil are going to reap what they sow. As the devil attempts to infect the world with his lies, it’s going to come right back upon his own head. Divine justice is coming, for they shall all be punished, inflicted, and plagued by the hand of God, just like another infection of…..
