Unemployed

Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that I wanted to tell you a little story.

Many people will go and get a job, but as soon as they begin making some income, they start to feel like they can do whatever they want. They begin to believe that their employment is secure, and in no way will they ever lose it. Their own self-importance starts to permeate their mind, and before you know it, they start taking liberties that the owner does not approve of. They begin taking too many breaks and neglecting their duties. The employer was nice enough to give them a job in the first place, but there is no job security. If they are going to keep it, they must please him completely, and do what they are told, otherwise they will be fired, and He will give their job to a more worthy employee.

This reminds me of the Christian Life.

Many people who profess to follow Jesus will do the exaçt same thing. They actually believe that their eternal salvation is secure, and that they can never lose it. They begin getting puffed up, and living their lives the way that they want to, rather than the way God expects them to. If they are not going to love and obey the commands of Christ Jesus, then one day they will wake up unemployed, and be cast away from His presence forever.

Jude 1 ³ Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
⁴ For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁵ I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

First of all, Jesus saved the Israelites from Egypt, but He later destroyed some of those whom He had saved. Likewise, some people who profess be a Christian will get saved at one point of their life, but eventually be cast away from God. In both cases, they never really believed and loved the Lord enough,to repent of their sins, and serve Him from their hearts. Once saved, always saved? Obviously not. Judas is an example of someone who threw their faith into the dumpster. People must repent or they will most certainly perish. If they never submit to the will of God, then they never really loved the Lord Jesus in the first place. Love is a two-way street. The Lord Jesus loved us by dying on the cross for our sins, but that is only half of the salvation process. Listen closely, in order to get to heaven you must love Him back, which is proven by your obedience to His will

“He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” John 14:21

“If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.” 1 Corinthians 16:22

The Lord performed a great and mighty deed by rescuing the Israelites out of bondage, but just because you care about someone, does not always mean that they will care about you in return. You can love somebody very much, but that does not mean that they will love you back. In the age that we are living in, many people want to believe that Jesus loves them so very much that He would never punish a Christian! These people have no fear of God. If they choose to rebel against the truth of Scripture, like a dead branch on a tree, they will only find themselves cut off.

“Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.” Romans 11:22

Why do you think there is going to be so much weeping and gnashing of teeth on Judgment Day? A lot of it is going to come from people who claimed to follow Jesus and expected that they would enter Heaven. But the facts are that they never lovingly submitted to His will. Like an unfaithful wife who refuses to serve and obey her husband, these unfaithful Christians will reap the rewards of their own labor. All the religious pomp and circumstance will never be able to save the souls of those who refused to repent. The once saved, always saved philosophy is a myth that is held by impenitent Christians. It’s only used as a way to justify their own wicked living. Plenty of people who have been baptized into the faith, and even had Holy Communion will end up being cast into the Lake of Fire,

Matthew 7 ²¹ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. ²² Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? ²³ And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Jesus reaches out to this world in order to save us, and each.of us are like sheep who have gone astray. But even though you can rescue a wild animal from the woods, nurture it in your home and bring it up as your own. there is a possibility that later on they might rebel against you, and return back to the woods. People are the exact same way. Some will begin the Christian Life, begin to live an obedient life towards God, but then rather than abiding faithfully in the truth they will return back to the world once again. Once saved, always saved? Peter warned about these types of people.

2 Peter 2 ²⁰ For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. ²¹ For it had been better for them not to have known the way of.righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. ²² But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Once saved, always saved is a myth, because the only way we can keep our salvation is by abiding in the will of Christ. We need to be doers of the Word, not just hearers only. Those who cannot do that are only destined to wake up one morning, find a letter in their mailbox, and realize that they are….
