Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.
Many years ago there was a period of my life when I was very involved flying remote controlled airplanes. I used to read a lot of magazines on my lunch break, and eventually I purchased one from the local hobby store, along with all of the servos and a radio transmitter. Whenever you turned up the throttle and took off from the air strip, you were in complete control of whatever the plane did. It reacted to whatever you did, even the slightest of movements that were applied to the control sticks. It did whatever you commanded it to do, whether it was climbing high into the sky, or landing gently on the ground.
This reminds me of the Christian Life.
Some people have pets that they control with a leash. Some people drive cars that they control with the steering wheel. In a man’s home, he is in complete control of his wife and family. He is the head over his household, just as Christ Jesus is head over the church.
Ephesians 5 ²² Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. ²³ For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. ²⁴ Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
When you submit, it means to accept or yield to the control of another. It is to yield to a superior force or to the authority and will of another person. In the home, it is the husband. There is no equality in the Christian home, as the husband is the center of authority which is granted to Him by God. To be in control is to be in charge and to have power over others. It is to dominate and to command them.
Many women will resist the commands and control of their own husbands. Rather than submitting to them, some of them are going to run off. This happens all the time in the world amongst unbelievers, but once someone is baptized into the Christian Life and even had communion, they are forbidden from this behavior. A woman who cannot submit and obey her husband in everything, is rejecting the commands and teachings of Christ. Those who don’t keep the commands of Jesus don’t really love Him at all, and are outside of the love of the Heavenly Father.
John 14 ²¹ He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. ²² Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? ²³ Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. ²⁴ He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
“If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.” 1 Corinthians 16:22
When you look around at the world today, it is filled with a false and a heretical form of Christianity. They have so many perversions of the scriptures, like so many different kinds of fish in a lake. Many of them cannot get on the same page of Truth because they are so far away from the original teachings of Christ. This is exactly what was prophesied in the scriptures that would happen before the return of the Lord Jesus. The Apostle Paul even warned that perilous times were coming.
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.” 2 Timothy 3:1
Rather than repenting and reconciling with their own husband, some of these rebellious wives will turn their ears away from the truth of scripture. Many of them will think that they are on their way to heaven, but that is because God has caused them to believe a lie. This is what He does to those who refuse to repent. They think that they are going to enter into heaven, but they never really did the will of God from their heart. The rejoicing that they have in this world will be cut short, as they find themselves weeping and gnashing their teeth at the judgment.
2 Thessalonians 2 ¹⁰ And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: ¹² That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Some women who profess Christianity are so filled with pride, that they feel that the scriptures don’t apply to them. They want somebody to tell them that everything is going to be okay, even though they abide in a state of complete rebellion against the will of God. Many of them will end up getting involved with false prophets for this very reason, false teachers who will tell them exactly what they want to hear, rather than the truth of repentance.
2 Timothy 4 ² Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. ³ For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; ⁴ And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Rather than repenting, many of these disobedient women have burned their consciences so bad that they could care less about coming into compliance with the will of God. Once the seed of rebellion takes hold of these impenitent women, it will eventually produce the fruit of damnation.
1 Timothy 4 ¹ Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; ² Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
The Lord cares for us so much that He laid down His own life for us on the cross. But those who refuse to repent of their sins by lovingly obeying His will are not going to enter into eternal life. In a Christian marriage, the husband symbolizes the Lord and the wife symbolizes the church. The true bride of Christ will submit to His will in everything, just as a wife is to submit to her own husband in everything. The husband is the power and authority in his own household. Women who refuse to submit to him, publicly manifest the wicked works of rebellion, and without repentance they will be damned along with the rest of the unbelievers.
“Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.” Romans 13:2
This is another reason why a woman who departs her husband is so wicked. Rather than submitting and being controlled by him, she wants to control her own life instead. Even in the Christian Life we don’t control our own lives, we must lovingly submit to our creator. He is in control, just as a man is in control of his own wife and family. Many people will become busy bodies and come in between a man and his own household, which is a sin that is comparable to murder in the Holy scriptures.
“But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.” 1 Peter 4:15
Those who get involved with such things are going to reap what they sow. Women who depart their husbands, especially with children involved;… sin against the commands of Christ,…. they sin against God’s leadership of their own husband,…and they sin against the young lives of the innocent children. Remember that because of one sin, Adam and Eve were removed from the garden of Eden. When a wife sins against her husband by leaving him, it can be compounded into many other sins, just as scriptures foretold.
“……. silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,” 2 Timothy 3:6
People get divorced all the time in this world, but divorce is forbidden in the Christian Life. It was suffered in the Old Testament, but it is forbidden in the New. Charity suffereth long! If women cannot suffer through their marriage, and lovingly submit and obey their own husband, they are completely void of divine charity and mercy. If they choose to reject the will of Christ, and leave and divorce you, you are free from the bond of marriage without any consequences to your own conscience. God will cause her to suffer for breaking the wedlock.
A man is created in the image of God, and a woman has been created to help men. Whether in a home or in society, a woman’s authority is man. God has ordained a husband to have complete authority over his wife and children. When a wife usurps that authority, even taking his own children away from him, she will inevitably face the wrath of a just and Holy God.
To serve Christ, women must be in complete submission to the control of their own husband, just like my airplane did what I commanded it to do, each time that I picked up my….
