100 Fold Blessing

Good morning and welcome in everybody.  Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.

In the first few years after I became a believer, I began growing in the knowledge of God’s will, and eventually, I came to the conclusion that in order to be faithful to Christ, I was going to have to turn away from all of the jobs that I was currently employed at. At that time, I was making really good pay, but the scriptures taught me that I needed to come out from the world and be separate, so I walked away from it all, and built a tiny little cabin out in the woods. I had no idea what I was going to do to get by, but I knew that if I trusted God’s Word, He would provide for all of my needs. There is a 100 fold blessing that is promised in the Scriptures to all those who forsake everything for Christ, and this is a blessing that I have reaped many times over. Obviously people can get rid of everything and move to a different location because of a new job opportunity, a better climate, or to seek a mate. But in order to reap this biblical blessing, it must be motivated by the sincere desire to draw nearer to God, and to serve Him. It is proving by your actions that He is worth more than anything else in this world, including your possessions, family or other relationships. God knows the motive of everyone’s heart, and why people do the things that they do. Moses walked away from everything, because he truly loved God more than anything, and those who are capable of doing this, will reap eternal life.

Mark 10 ²⁹ And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, ³⁰ But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

Many people can’t do this because they don’t trust in Jesus enough to provide for them. But remember that He made the sun and the moon and the stars and took care of the Israelites out in the desert. There is nothing that is impossible for Him. God will reward a diligent seeking heart, which is ultimately proven through our actions.  Just like Moses and the disciples, you must be capable of forsaking all that you have, because only then will you prove to God that the things of this world have no control over you. There is a woman mentioned in the Scriptures who did this very thing, giving up everything that she had for the Lord Jesus.

Luke 21 ¹ And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. ² And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. ³ And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: ⁴ For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

When I forsook everything and moved out into the woods, I had no idea how I was going to provide for my family. I didn’t doubt that God would help me, I just needed to wait for His timing as He took me in a completely new direction. I had to give up the jobs I held, because it is forbidden for a Christian to be joined together with others who don’t share the teachings of our faith.

For example, many people rise up and go to work each day, joining together with others on an assembly line and creating some type of product. They might go out into the field and begin harvesting potatoes together, or go out into the woods to fell and skid trees for pulp making. But when you become a Christian, the jobs that you had in the past will more than likely have to be left behind. People can develop close relationships during a 40-hour work week as they work alongside others. But if they really don’t believe in the teachings of Holy Scripture, you cannot join up with them. Many people claim to believe in Jesus, but that doesn’t mean that they believe in the teachings of His Holy Word.

2 Corinthians 6 ¹⁴ Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? ¹⁵ And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? ¹⁶ And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

¹⁷ Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, ¹⁸ And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

When you are yoked with others, you team up with them, just like teaming up some horses who work together pulling a carriage. When you team up with others, it’s like joining a sports team where you all work together to win the trophy at the end of the season. There are many people who start a business and claim that it’s Christian based, but that doesn’t mean anything unless they believe in the teachings of scripture. If you confront them with scripture, and they share different beliefs, you are forbidden from joining up with them. They might go to a church somewhere, but that doesn’t mean that they are a believer in their heart. This is the fallacy in the world today, led by a huge form of false Christianity, and it will only get worse.

“Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?”  Luke 18:8

People want to believe that it’s Christianity simply because there is a cross out front. They think it’s Christianity because there is a steeple on the roof. They accepted it as Christianity, because of stained glass windows and people dressed up in robes. Christianity is not defined by a building or through outward appearances, but through faith in Christ and the teachings of scripture. If they don’t believe and accept scripture, you cannot be joined up with them, it doesn’t matter who they are. But this doesn’t mean that we completely avoid people, because in order to preach and help others you will need to have some sort of brief contact with them. Scriptures teach us that we can sit down with unbelievers and enjoy a meal with them, after all, Jesus did this with many of the Pharisees and publicans. During this time, we can share our faith and religious beliefs, but to join up with them is a completely different matter.

When you join up with others, you are going to spend a great deal of time with them. This happens when you work together, hang out regularly, or even in a marriage when you are yoked to a spouse. But to join up with someone who doesn’t share your faith can corrupt yours, which is what happened in the life of Solomon. We must surround ourselves with like-minded people who fear God and have a great desire to serve and obey Him.

“……..follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” 2 Timothy 2:22

Although we might visit with people at the grocery store, or even help out your neighbor occasionally, yoked up is to team up with others in a certain activity routinely. Obviously, the disciples went out preaching the gospel everywhere. The Apostle Paul was trying to convert and convince people to turn to the faith. But it’s a different thing to join up and fellowship with them on a regular basis. As I did so many years ago, we must come out and be separate, because friendship with the world is enmity with God.

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” James 4:4

In fact, when people refused to receive and accept the Word of God, you were supposed to shake off the dust and move on. So what would someone be doing working alongside people who don’t share their beliefs? Obviously if that were to happen, money has become more important to them than abiding in the will of God.

As I’ve always said, the role of women is one of the greatest heresies going on in our time. Women are involved in all places of business, leadership, and even teaching the Word of God which is absolutely forbidden. People can live the way they desire out in the world, but these things are outside the teachings of Christ. I’m sure a lot of these women would probably hire you in a heartbeat, even tempting you with a big paycheck, but to please the Heavenly Father, we must keep separate, even when it means forsaking everything. Have you ever wondered why the prophets dwelt in caves? Do you ever wonder why John the Baptist wore the clothes that he did? It’s because they loved the Lord more than anything this world could offer.

“(Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.” Hebrews 11:38

The more that you obey the teachings of scripture, the quieter the road will become. The worldly crowd starts to thin out because they simply don’t have the stamina nor the love for God, to endure all the way to the end. Even though Jesus called out to many men to preach the Word, many of them left Him, teaching us how narrow the path to Heaven truly is. Just like Moses, the Apostle Peter gave up everything in order to follow the Lord, something that a lot of people will not be able to do. In my own personal testimony, I walked away from everything that I had, including my home and personal belongings, without any intention of returning. I’ve seen God’s blessings come to pass in my own life, and when you love and trust God enough to obey Him, you too can become the recipient of, the.…..
