Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture from The book of John.
“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:17
First of all, Jesus is God’s only begotten Son, and when He came into this world, He didn’t come to condemn it, but to save it. When He suffered and died on the cross, He could have called out legions of angels to destroy the world, but He didn’t. To those who have ears to hear, let them hear this. The only reason why this Earth is still standing is because of the mercy of God. Although He didn’t condemn the world, He most certainly condemned sin in the flesh!
Romans 8 ³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: ⁴ That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
We live in a wicked era of History, when we are surrounded on all sides by a huge form of false Christianity. I call it false Christianity because it is filled up with false prophets, false apostles, and false brethren, people who are actually wolves in sheep’s clothing. You will know who these wicked people are, because when you take them to the Holy Scriptures they will say things like,..
“Who are you to judge me? ……Quit condemning me, because there is only one person who can do that, it’s Jesus.”
If you have ever heard somebody say these types of things, it’s because they are filled up with the pride of the devil. The teachings of Holy Scripture are Jesus. The Holy Spirit is one Spirit, and God’s Word was written by many different men who were filled up with the exact same Spirit as Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 1 ¹⁰ Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: ¹¹ Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
I have always said that God’s Word is the Holy Spirit written on paper, and the av1611 King James Bible is a thorough translation of the writings of these men. Those who won’t allow themselves to be judged by it, are certainly not of God.
“He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.” John 8:47
If nobody stands up for the truth and condemns sinful living, how would anybody possibly be saved? Christians are supposed to be filled up with the light of God’s Word and take a stand against all of the evil works of darkness.
Ephesians 5 ¹¹ And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. ¹² For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. ¹³ But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
All throughout the scriptures, men of God have condemned sinful living. Jesus condemned sin. The Apostles condemned sin. The disciples condemned sin. The elders condemned sin. The prophets condemned sin, and John the Baptist condemned sin. So when somebody says,…” who are you to judge me,” they are completely rejecting the path to repentance, something that is required in order to obtain eternal life. If they don’t repent, they will perish along with the rest, whether they claim to be Christian or not.
Luke 13 ¹ There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. ² And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? ³ I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. ⁴ Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? ⁵ I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
The Apostle Paul commanded Timothy to rebuke with all authority and judge sinful issues that were going on in the church. Spiritual judgments must happen, so people can turn away from their sins and walk in the perfect will of God.
1 Peter 4 ¹⁷ For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? ¹⁸ And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
There will be many people who will take the “don’t judge me” attitude in the church. Some of them will probably get up and leave and join some other splinter group that is not so “judgmental.” They cannot comprehend that Jesus is the Word of God made flesh, and to reject scripture, is to reject Christ. Because of their own arrogance, they will absolutely refuse to listen to the truth, which makes it impossible for them to repent after that. Like refusing a glass of water in a hot desert, they will stubbornly refuse to drink from the well of God’s Holy Word, and will wander around aimlessly in this world until they are finally consumed in their own sins.
2 Timothy 4 ¹ I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; ² Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. ³ For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; ⁴ And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Those who cannot receive correction or accept Spiritual rebukes from scripture, fall into the condemnation of the devil.
“But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.” 1 Corinthians 11:32
Over twenty years ago I was invited to preach somewhere, but the person who was in charge of the event said that they didn’t want me talking about hell, damnation and judgment, and things of that nature. I was astonished that they were actually professing to be a Christian, and I told them that I wouldn’t be a faithful steward by presenting a watered down or censored version of the Gospel. Our God is extremely merciful, and there is Grace available for those who turn from their sins to the will of God, but those who choose to abide in their sins have to be warned about the consequences for what they are doing, for this is the work of the Holy Spirit.
John 16 ⁸ And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:.⁹ Of sin, because they believe not on me; ¹⁰ Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; ¹¹ Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
When nobody rebukes sin anymore, then the curtain needs to be drawn on this wicked world because its final days are coming to a close. Eternal judgment and damnation are quickly approaching for the impenitent, but God doesn’t want people to perish, He wants them to repent! This is a message that has remained the same for thousands of years. What people must do is humble themselves and.open their ears to the truth, allowing it to sink deep into their hearts. Living in sin will reap the wages of death, but if you turn away from them today, then….
