Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.
Have you ever made a pattern? A pattern is simply something that repeats itself over and over again. You can see patterns in certain building projects, as they repeat the same type of architecture over and over again. You can see patterns when you look closely at a quilt, as their squares are repeated throughout the blanket. Sometimes when people pour concrete, they will press a mold into wet pavement, making it look just like real bricks.
This reminds me of the Christian Life.
Like a quilt, a woman must have a pattern of good works, faithfully taking care of her duties at home, and being obedient and faithful to her husband.
Titus 2 ⁴ That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
⁵ To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
The current age that we live in is rapidly declining because women have chosen to abandon their homes for the workplace instead. Sometimes this is caused when a husband desires more income, and the wife becomes an avenue to that process of obtaining it. Sometimes it can happen because she has chosen to love the things of this world, which overpowers and distracts her from her daily duties in the home.
1 John 2 ¹⁵ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
¹⁷ And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
So it all comes down to walking faithfully in the teachings of God. She must be a role model of love, through obedience to scripture, and then to her own husband, because this is the purpose for which she was created
.1 Corinthians 11 ⁷ For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
⁸ For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. ⁹ Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. ¹⁰ For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. ¹¹ Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. ¹² For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
Women were originally created by God as helpers of men, not leaders of men, and that is very clear from the teachings of scripture.
Genesis 2 ¹⁸ And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. ¹⁹ And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. ²⁰ And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. ²¹ And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; ²² And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. ²³ And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
She also must humbly obey her husband, not just in the things that she wants to, but in everything. It is a structure of order that must be maintained in the home, as men are in a place of governance over women. Not only have some women ventured out into the world to work, some of them have gotten involved in teaching, which is a role that was made for men.
1 Timothy 2 ¹¹ Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. ¹² But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
Ephesians 5 ²² Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. ²³ For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. ²⁴ Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Sadly, a lot of the downfall of women began over 100 years ago when they began to enter into the workforce. Rather than taking care of their aged husband or relatives, they would go off to work somewhere else instead. Her focal point in life are the matters concerning the home. Even the Apostle sent women back to their own husbands to learn from them at home.
1 Corinthians 14 ³⁴ Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. ³⁵ And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. ³⁶ What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?
³⁷ If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
Women are called to be in complete subjection to her husband, and the men of the church, otherwise it is completely disorderly. Subjection is defined as being placed under the control or authority of another. Sometimes women who don’t like to be ruled over will refer to men as too controlling, which is a disobedient streak that needs to be corrected in their lives, if they truly want to become……
