The Cure

Good morning and welcome in everybody.  Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, and the topic of our discussion will be about faith healing.

Some people have certain diseases or sicknesses, but all of them can be healed through the power of faith. Think for a moment about the awesome power of God who created the Sun, the Moon and the stars. He is the creator of heaven and Earth and there is nothing that He is incapable of doing. I’ve said it many times before but my wife thought I was going to die twenty years ago from an issue that I was dealing with, but through faith, the Lord completely delivered me. There is nothing impossible for the Lord to heal, for those who believe. Whatever ailment that someone might have, God has provided us with a cure, and it is found through faith in His precious Son Jesus.

James 5 ¹⁴ Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
¹⁵ And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

When we look at this passage, take note that the word (shall), is used three times, and is used to express the inevitability of certain events that are going to take place in the future. My children never had any type of medical intervention of any kind. I always annointed them with oil in the name of Jesus, and the Lord completely healed them from whatever sickness they had. God provides us with a free gift of mercy and physical healing, but to obtain them requires faith.

Matthew 8 ⁵ And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, ⁶ And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
⁷ And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
⁸ The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
⁹ For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. ¹⁰ When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. ¹¹ And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. ¹² But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. ¹³ And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

Many years ago, I knew a man who was told by some doctors that he was going to die if he didn’t purchase their expensive medications. He was very poor and he was not going to be able to pay for them. He decided to place His faith in Christ Jesus and was anointed with oil, and was completely healed by the Lord. Another time there was a student at school who was taking all kinds of different medications, but his mother trusted the Word that I spoke to her, and he never took meds after that again. I believe in the healing power of Christ with all of my heart, and I too, have been healed over the years. It is a matter of placing your complete trust in Him for deliverance.

Matthew 9 ² And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. ³ And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. ⁴ And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? ⁵ For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? ⁶ But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins,  (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. ⁷ And he arose, and departed to his house. ⁸ But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.

God has granted certain men of the church with Spiritual gifts, one of which is healing.

“To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;” 1 Corinthians 12:9

This same power and ability was given freely to His disciples.

“Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.” Luke 9:1

“And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.” Matthew 10:1

There was a building I used to work at, that had four steps leading up into a room that was filled up with young children. One of the young girls always wanted me to stand a few steps down the stairway, and she would close her eyes, and leap high into the air, and I would catch her safely in my arms. This is the same type of faith that we must have in order to be healed by the Lord Jesus. We must trust Him and the teachings of scripture, and when He sees our faith,….healing can happen.

Acts 3 ³ Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. ⁴ And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. ⁵ And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. ⁶ Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. ⁷ And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. ⁸ And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

Acts 14 ⁸ And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked: ⁹ The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, ¹⁰ Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

Remember that God will certainly punish the impenitent, just as He did to Egypt in the days of Moses. He sent plagues and pestilence to that country because of the hardness of Pharaoh’s heart. But when we trust in Christ Jesus and the men that He has sent, just as He can punish, He can also heal all of our diseases. What a merciful God, to grant us forgiveness for our sins! Blessed be His name, from everlasting to everlasting!!!

Psalms 103 ² Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: ³ Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; ⁴ Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; ⁵ Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

So are you looking for healing? Then you have to trust Him and jump into his open arms. He won’t let us fall, but will raise us up from our infirmities. Christ Jesus is our Divine Physician, and through faith in His name, you shall find,….
