Flattened to the Ground

Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.

For many years our family has done a lot of four wheeling up here in the woods, and it seems that the trails are boundless. But when we are out driving around, we always notice new trails that we have never been on before. Because of all of the hunting in our area, a lot of people will make new trails each year in order to get to their deer stand or bear baiting station. I’ve always found it incredible the things that you can drive through with a four-wheeler. Many of them are equipped with really big tires, and you can drive effortlessly over heavy brush, thick reeds, and tall grass. A four wheeler is a very powerful machine, and when you look behind you, you will notice how it flattens everything right to the ground.

This reminds me of the Christian Life.

When the proud rise up against the Lord’s chosen servants, He will rise up and fight their battles for them, and just like a four wheeler pounding down the brush, God will flatten all of their enemies to the ground.

Psalms 108:12-13 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

When you tread on something, you trample or flatten It to the ground. It also means to press, crush or injure something. Those who cause God’s elect to suffer, are going to suffer at the hands of God. Just as He sent plagues and pestilence in the days of Moses, He continues to do the same thing today. Our God is an incredibly merciful God, but He is also a God of great vengeance. The elect of God don’t fight with earthly weapons, because the Lord Jesus is the tip of the Spear!

1 Samuel 17:47 And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’S, and he will give you into our hands.

2 Chronicles 20:15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not your’s, but God’s.

The Lord knows who is serving Him, and He also knows those who are rebelling against His will and purpose. His protections abide on those who obey Him with sincere hearts, for they are blessed.

Revelation 1:3  Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Luke 11:28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

As a follower of Christ Jesus, we are not supposed to resist evil or avenge ourselves, and when we humbly submit to the will of God, He will repay.

Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Proverbs 24:29 – Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.

Proverbs 20:22 Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

Romans 12:17 – Recompense to no man evil for evil…….

Remember that Jesus could have called out legions of angels to destroy this world, but He allowed himself to suffer and die on the cross instead. Pilot could have delivered Him, but he did nothing to help. This world is filled with corruption in high places of Justice, and it will continue to get worse. Some of them will do righteous activities just to be seen in front of the camera by millions, but in hidden places, they could care less about doing Justice. It is better to place your trust in the Lord, whose Justice will always prevail, both now and forever.

Psalms 118:8-9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.

So rather than going to earthly courtrooms or law enforcement, we must cry out mightily to the creator of heaven Earth, and petition the Lord Jesus Christ for His Divine Justice in the matter, and I guarantee that He will recompense evil upon their heads.

Luke 18:1-8 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily……

Hebrews 10:30-31 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

The enemies of God’s elect, become the enemies of Jesus Christ.

Nahum 1:2 God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.

Psalms 147:6 The LORD lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.

When people choose to mess with God and His servants, they enter into a losing battle. Because God is perfectly just, He will reward and punish accordingly, both now and in eternity. People will never be able to avoid the fact that you will reap exactly what you sow.

Galatians 6:7-8  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Those who walk in the will of God, walk in the protections of God, and if God is for us, who shall be against us?

Romans 8:31  What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Psalms 56:9 When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.

Deuteronomy 32:35 To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.

So just like a four-wheeler pounding down the brush out in the woods, God shall tread down our enemies. Be patient and wait on the Lord, and all of them shall be…..
