Good Things are Coming

Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture from The Book of Romans.

Romans 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

To truly love God from your heart is to turn away from what you may want and desire in this life, in order to become what God wants you to be. It is to reject the plans and the aspirations that you had for your future, in order to serve the purpose and the high calling of God. In the carnal state, people walk according to their own will, but as a Christian, we must reject our own will for the will of God, and when we submit to Him in such a manner, it pleases Him and the blessings of God abide in us. For example, the Apostle Paul was once a Jewish Pharisee, but when he was converted to the Christian faith, the Lord Jesus called him to a specific purpose, to turn people from darkness to the light.

Acts 26:16-18  But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

1 Corinthians 1:1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God,…….

But when we become a Christian, we are making the choice to follow Christ Jesus and His teachings, rather than the philosophies and ideologies of this world. When this happens, it is going to set you at odds with people who are outside the teachings of the one true faith. Those with whom you have shared close interpersonal relationships, will suddenly turn on you and become your enemies, including your relatives, your neighbors and even your own spouse.

Mark 13:12-13 Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

When the Apostle Peter converted to Christianity, people that he once knew began to speak evil about him, simply because he didn’t want to live like them any longer.

1 Peter 4:3-5 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

Those who choose to become a Christian are going to enter into some type of persecution.

1 Peter 4:12-14 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

2 Timothy 3:12  Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

Joseph went through all kinds of suffering during his life, but God was with him every step of the way and He was blessed. Everything that he went through, God was taking him to the place that he wanted him to be, and was raised up into high places of authority by the hand of Pharaoh. When we have to endure certain things, we might not understand it at the time, but when we patiently suffer and abide in the will of God, He is going to work out everything for good in the end.

Hebrews 6:12-15 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

We can know that God will work out everything for good, when we love the Him with a pure heart. Sincere love for God is manifested through our obedience and complete submission to His will.

John 14:21-24 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.

God is going to bless those who walk according to His will.

Luke 11:27-28 And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

Those who choose to become a Christian have to remember that there is a lot of darkness and wickedness going on all around us, and when you choose to live your life according to the truth, it’s going to result in resistance from those who are living a lie. As a Christian, we are bound by our conscience, whereas others in this world are not. So when people lie about you, falsely accuse you, and spread evil gossip about you, you can know that as long as you are walking according to God’s will, He is going to work it out for good. He will reward everyone according to their deeds, whether they are good or evil.

Galatians 6:7-8 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

So whatever sufferings that we have to go through because of the boundaries of our conscience, we must endure them out of faithfulness to Christ. God is watching, and you can be assured that when you walk according to His will and purpose,….
