Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture from The Book of Psalms.
Psalms 37:4-5 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
The Lord Jesus sees deep inside the heart of each one of us. There is nothing hidden from His sight as He is well aware of all our doings, from the rising of the Sun to the setting down of the same. He knows those who are walking according to His will, and He also is aware of those who are rebelling against His calling and purpose. I have always taught that God is going to reward everyone according to their deeds, whether they are good or bad.
Romans 2:5-11 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God.
When a child has a great year at school, and is on their best behavior, a lot of parents will usually reward that with some type of compensation. Perhaps the child really wants a new bike, and he has been so sweet hearted and obedient that his dad finally goes out and purchases him one from the store. When we obey those who have authority over us, it pleases them. When a wife obeys and submits to her husband in everything, it pleases him. When we submit to the teachings of Christ, and desire to serve Him with our whole heart, it pleases Him. When we commit our lives to the Lord in such a manner, He can reward us by giving us the desires of our heart.
Psalms 18:19-21 He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me. The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me. For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
Proverbs 13:13 Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
Do you know what the most important thing that Solomon wanted above and beyond anything in this world? He wanted to be filled with the wisdom of God, and the desire of his heart pleased the Lord so much, that He showered Solomon with incredible rewards.
1 Kings 3:5-14 In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in. And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days. And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.
When we seek the Lord diligently, and prove our love through our faithful obedience, He can give us all of the things that we ask for in our prayers.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
But in order to reap the rewards of God, you need to commit yourself to staying on the narrow path of Christ Jesus. Whether somebody is rich or poor, God treats each of us exactly the same, because He is a respecter of no persons. He judges by WORKS! If you do what is good, He is going to smile upon that, but if you fight against His will, He is going to fight against you.
Revelation 2:16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
Galatians 6:7-10 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap..For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Just like being committed to your marriage all the days of your life, we must be fully committed to faithfully obeying the will of God from the heart. Just like Joseph, each of us is going to encounter some type of suffering along the way, but when you choose to do what’s right, and submit to Christ and His teachings, make sure that you are ready for His……
