Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.
Over the past twenty years, I’ve had a lot of different animals on the property, including goats, rabbits, and large flocks of chickens. But anybody who has ever owned chickens understands that they can be attacked and even killed by wild animals. A few years back, I went out to the chicken coop to grab a few eggs, but when I began to feed them, I noticed a dead chicken that was laying on the ground. I was perplexed because I didn’t understand what had happened. Although the shed had been closed up tightly that night, I finally discovered a small hole that some creature from the woods had dug underneath one of the corners of their house. They had managed to gain access to the building, and then killed the poor thing without mercy.
This reminds me of the Christian Life
Just like stealing chickens, the devil is running around the world today and trying to lead people away from biblical truth. He wants to destroy their souls, by leading them away from humble obedience to the teachings of the New Testament. This has been going on since the garden of Eden, when he seduced Eve to go against the will of God. He will attempt to destroy people’s faith, by convincing them to go against their conscience, and cause them to believe a lie instead.
John 10:7-11 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
It’s fairly easy to recognize the works of devils, because they resist the teachings of scripture and will push back against it. They will attempt to convince others to not believe the teachings of scripture, and to rip the seed of God’s Word right out of their hearts.
Luke 8:11-12 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
When people resist scripture, it’s because the devil has got a hold of their heart. He’s holding them captive at his will, just like a thief in the barn who won’t let go of your little chicken. This is what the devil does, a thief and a destroyer who wants to rip a conservative and obedient heart to shreds. The devil will attempt to steal the hearts and minds of your children. The devil will attempt to steal the hearts and minds of your wives. The devil will attempt to steal the hearts and minds of the sheep of God, which is why we must resist him at every opportunity.
1 Peter 5:8-9 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
The devil can appear in many different forms, from a smiling mother or even an angel of light. They can even appear like a brother in the faith, but on the inside they are only a wolf dressed up in sheep’s clothing. They might slap on some fancy religious garb, and take on the outward appearance of religion, but all it is is smoke and mirrors, in order to deceive the simple.
2 Corinthians 11:13-15 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
The devil can be easily identified by the response that they have towards the teachings of scripture. The devil hates when this happens, because he cannot fight against the Spiritual Sword of God’s Holy Word.
Hebrews 4:12-13 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
The devil absolutely refuses to repent of sin or submit to the teachings of scripture, which is one of the reasons why true men of God have been so hated by this world. When they stand up for the truth in Christ Jesus, they are hated by the devils and their compadres, who speak evil of the ones whom God has sent.
Jude 1:10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
2 Peter 2:12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;
Many people are going to follow them and their skewed form of Christianity right into an everlasting lake of fire. This is because they chose to believe lies over biblical truth, and in the process became blind followers of the blind.
2 Peter 2:1-2 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
This is why we are surrounded by so much false Christianity in the world today. These are people who choose the path of willful ignorance, and refuse to repent of their sins. Their consciences have become numb to all feelings, and have become wilful reprobates according to the one true faith.
1 Timothy 4:1-2 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
The devil is a thief and a liar, whose main purpose is to destroy one’s faithful obedience to the will of God. The devil is an impenitent and backslidden wretch, one who wants to steal your children and the hearts of those who are serving God. These wicked devils are lying in wait to deceive, waiting for the moment to kill and to destroy one’s soul, so be ready to resist them and all of their evil works, the next time that they venture inside of,…..
