Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.
Over the past twenty years, my family and I have picked thousands of pinecones, for the purpose of reforesting the beautiful woods of Northern Minnesota. Some of our most common trees in our area are the Red pine, tamarack, and balsam, which are scattered plentifully throughout the forest. But recently, one of my neighbors brought home a huge pine cone that he had picked up while he was out in Southern California, one from a tree that is extremely rare. The pine cone is from the Torrey pine, which is a critically endangered species which only grows wild in coastal San Diego county and on the Santa Rosa Island near Santa Barbara. It has been grown as an ornamental tree in coastal and inland Southern California, and even the Central valley. One of these trees was apparently planted somewhere back in the 1940s in a suburb of San Diego, and has grown to over 108 ft tall. However, in the past 40 years, the population of these trees dwindled due to forest fires, drought, and hungry bark beetles, and it has been claimed that there were only 100 trees that remained in the early 20th century. The Torrey pine still remains on the critically endangered list, and is considered by many people as the rarest pine tree in North America.
This reminds me of the Christian Life.
When something is rare it doesn’t occur very often, and is not found in large numbers. These are some of the most perilous times in the history of the world, because true men of God are becoming an extremely rare breed. As the numbers of false Christianity continue to grow, the masses of people are being deceived, and being led by false prophets and false teachers who rebel against the teachings of scripture. True men of God are becoming few and far between, and just like finding a red diamond or even the rarest of coins, they are becoming just as uncommon as the Torrey pine.
2 Peter 2:1-2 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
Many people are going to follow false forms of Christianity, because their lives are not grounded in wisdom, repentance, and submission to the truth of scripture. If you think somebody is a Christian just because they say so, then you are probably one of the most naive persons in your neighborhood. When someone is pernicious it means they have a harmful effect on others, especially in a gradual and subtle way. This is one of the qualities of the devil, who will subtly try to lead people away from obedience to God’s will. Remember that John the Baptist and Jesus rebuked the religious leaders of their day, but the same people have reappeared, only this time they call themselves a Christian. Jesus warned about these types of people, who refer to Him by name only, but don’t have any desire to submit to the will of God.
Luke 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Many people feel that if they confess Jesus with their mouth that they are automatically going to be in heaven. They even feel the same way about baptism, or partaking of Holy Communion, but the New Testament teaches us that unless you are converted and turn away from your sins, you will come up short of eternal life, something that Jesus warned about in the parable of the sower.
Luke 8:14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
The Lord warned about the casting away of false and disobedient Christians, who refused to repent and submit themselves to the will of God.
Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
The Lord Jesus taught that the world is going to look like the days of Noah before His return, and many false prophets would arise. They will claim to be His followers, but they refuse to submit to His teachings. They will be contentious, and actively oppose those who stand up for the true faith that was given once unto the Saints. For 25 years, I have taught that one of the biggest heresies going on in the world today is women preaching and teaching God’s Holy Word. Unspiritual false prophets have even ordained them, and chosen them to be in high places of authority over men. You can identify a fish by its scales. You can identify a bird by its feathers. One of the easiest ways to discern if somebody is really a Christian or not is through the words of the Apostle Paul.
1 Corinthians 14:37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
The Apostle Paul was chosen by the Lord Jesus Christ, and wrote most of the New Testament that we have today. Look at the Holy Spirit filled commands of the Lord that he gave in regards to women.
1 Timothy 2:11-13 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
Man is made in the image of God, and women were created to serve and help men. Although in the world, people will claim equality between the sexes, the church is a place that is completely run by men.There is no equality between men and women in the church, none whatsoever, because in the church there is order and a structure of authority between the genders. People in the church are referred to as sons and daughters of God, not some type of unisex false religion in the world. This is why there is so much confusion about the roles of the sexes in the world today. Women want to take on the roles of men, and men have become effeminate, and a lot of this is the result of heretical teachings of false Christianity who have raised these little children into adulthood only to damn both them and themselves to hell.
So, as we progress towards the Great tribulation, seducers and deceivers will wax worse and worse, and many people will believe their lie and be led astray from the teachings of scripture. But as false Christianity continues to grow, true men of God will be harder to find,….just like the rarity, of…..
