Heads are Gonna Roll

Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.

The Apostle Paul was a very meek man, who was filled with gentleness and kindness. Moses was exactly the same way, and was called the meekest of all men. But although people can be very lowly in heart, you never want to stir them up to wrath. A loving dad can be very gentle and tender-hearted with his wife and children, but if you choose to rebel against his authority, you are going to provoke him to anger. Although the Apostle Paul was very meek, if people were going to provoke him to anger, they were going to see a completely different side of him.

1 Corinthians 4:21 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?

Whether it’s an employer, a principal at a school, or even a dad, they are all in a place of authority over other people. Although they may appear very gentle when you first meet them, depending upon the circumstances they will have to issue strong corrections or punishment if required. Men of God wield great authority in the church, to reprove and rebuke those who refuse to align themselves with the teachings of scripture. When you do what is right, you will receive their praise, but those who do what is evil will receive discipline. Consider our precious Lord Jesus, who is meek and lowly in heart, but He is also a God of great vengeance, and will punish the impenitent right up until the day of judgment.

John 2:13-17 And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,.And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables; And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise. And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

In the carnal nature, people like to trample on the meek, usurping over them because of their own pride. People in the church were doing the same thing to the Apostle Paul, and didn’t think he was going to do anything about the evil that was going on amongst them. Even though Paul was very gentle, he was going to lay down the law if he had to. He warned the church that if they were going to treat him in such a manner then they were going to meet somebody who was ready to bring out the scourge of punishment.

2 Corinthians 10:10-11 For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible. Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.

As I said already, Moses was the meekest of all men, but he was so ticked off at what the people had done, that he broke the tablets before them

Exodus 32:15-19 And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written. And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables. And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp. And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear. And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses’ anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.

Moses was a tenderhearted man who was chosen by God, and when Aaron and Miriam spoke out against him, they stirred up God’s wrath. The Lord was so upset with what they had done, that He gave Miriam leprosy.

Numbers 12:9-15  And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous. And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned. Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother’s womb. And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee. And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again. And Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days: and the people journeyed not till Miriam was brought in again.

Our God is a God of extremes, both in His love toward us, and His punishments against sin. His love is like no other, openly displayed as He laid down His own life on the cross for us all. He is a God of incredible forbearance and mercy, filled with a great passion to reward those who diligently seek Him. His passionate love towards His servants is so extreme, that He will rise up quickly to avenge them. But as His love is severe, so is His wrath, and it will wax hot upon all those who refuse to repent of their sins. Eternal life in the kingdom of God, or eternal punishment forever in a burning lake of fire.

Romans 11:21-22 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

As I’ve said for years, the fear of God is being quickly depleted on this Earth. A lot of this is because people are preaching a false Jesus, not our precious Lord that is spoken of in the scriptures. People have been loved a little bit too much, and it is proven by their own rebellion against the will of God. This is what is going on in false Christianity today, and growing quickly like weeds taking over a garden. These are the same types of people that John the Baptist warned about their own impenitence.

Matthew 3:7-10 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Paul was a very humble man, but if you were not going to hold him and his authority in a place of respect, then you were going to meet a very different person when he came. Meekness is a great quality to possess, but those in the church who are going to openly mock the things of God must understand that unless people repent,…….
