Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that I wanted to tell you a little story.
Many people in our neck of the woods have been very busy out in their greenhouses this spring, planting all kinds of different seeds for their garden. But sometimes when we plant a pack of the seeds, there will be one stray seed that is unlike all the rest. You might not recognize it for a few weeks, but when it finally begins to sprout and grow you are going to know that you planted the wrong thing.
This reminds me of the Christian
When you plant a seed, you are going to get back exactly what you planted. When you falsely accuse and lie about others; when you are malicious, and do wicked things to a neighbor, it’s going to come right back at you. Consequences for the things that you do cannot be avoided, whether they are good or bad. Sadly there will be many people who are going to reap the whirlwind, suffering Divine repercussions for their impenitent and rebellious behavior towards the Lord Jesus Christ and the Gospel of Truth.
Galatians 6:7-8 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
The Apostle warns the church not to be deceived, because those who do evil are going to reap corruption. As I’ve always said, sin is very deceitful and can actually convince a person that what they are doing is right and acceptable, but the actual truth is that they are heading in the wrong direction.
Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
To mock God it’s to treat him with contempt or derision. Derision are actions that show that something is of little or no value to you whatsoever. When we decide to become a follower of the Christian faith, we must not neglect the things that we have learned. God is a respecter of no man, and will reward you according to your own works.
Hebrews 2:1-3 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
Acts 10:34-35 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
To reap means to get as a return, recompense or result.
Proverbs 22:8 He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.
Job 4:8 Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.
Hosea 10:13 Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
When one of my children was very young, he wrote a simple little song that only had one sentence that repeated itself over and over again. I happened to listen to it just the other day. The lyric was,….whatever you do, comes back to you, whatever you do comes back to you. Sin can be like a boomerang, because when you treat others wickedly, it will do a big circle and come right back at you. When people do evil, it’s kind of like throwing a heavy rock up a steep hill, and eventually it comes bouncing right back at them in full force. Sinning against others is like aiming for a squirrel on the highway, but then driving off the road and hitting a tree. Sinning against others is unwise, in fact it’s better to allow people to sin against you then returning evil to them. In this manner you will obtain a better resurrection. The justice of God can never be avoided, and you can know for a fact that He will recompense evil to those who do evil toward His servants, both here on the Earth and at judgment Day.
Proverbs 20:22 Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.
Proverbs 11:31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
2 Thessalonians 1:6-9 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
There are many high places of Justice in this world who will never be able to evade accountability with Christ Jesus. After all, He created the places that they sit in. Whenever people do wicked things, God is watching. When they refuse to do justice, when they refuse to repent, when they cast off the poor and the suffering, God is watching. The Eternal consequences with Christ cannot be avoided because someday, every knee will bow before Him.
Romans 14:11-12 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
Every work shall be brought into account before the Almighty, and without repentance towards the will of God, and reconciliation with those you have wronged, punishment awaits. Earthly prisons can only hold you for a certain period of time, but many people including those who hold earthly powers in this world will be locked up forever in a lake of fire that will never be quenched. Fear God and bring forth works meet for repentance lest you be damned with the rest of the impenitent.
John 5:28-29 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
If you were to throw 20 fish into a pool, and then slowly start to drain out all the water, none of them are going to escape, and will eventually be picked up by the owner. Mark my words, you will never escape what is coming in the future. Repent or perish, because you will be in heaven or the lake of fire after your death here upon the Earth. You will reap what you sow, so make sure that you keep planting those fruits of righteousness, because if you choose to rebel, I guarantee you without a doubt, that you are going to
……..Reap the Whirlwind
