Male and Female

Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture from the book of Galatians

Galatians 3:28-29 (KJB)  There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

This is a passage of scripture that has been twisted and perverted by people who proclaim equality between the sexes, and rather than repenting of their wickedness, they use it to proclaim that women can serve in the same roles and functions of men throughout the church. Men and women have specific roles throughout the entire New Testament but Jezebel and the numerous false prophets that support her will try to use this verse to justify their own wicked ideologies. Paul is making an illustration In this passage, just as he did between Hagar and Mount Sinai in Galatians 4.

Galatians 4:24-25 (KJB)  Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.

Obviously, Hagar is not Mount Sinai, but it is put forth to illustrate a spiritual point. Consider the Lord Jesus when He talked about destroying the temple.

John 2:19-21 (KJB) Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body.

The Lord wasn’t speaking about destroying the physical temple in Jerusalem, He was speaking about His death and resurrection. But many times this is what is going to happen when you give spiritual symbolisms to people who are ignorant and unlearned. It’s like casting precious pearls to the swine only to be crushed under their feet. The Apostle Peter even warned that these same types of people would twist Paul’s words to their own destruction. 

2 Peter 3:15-16 (KJB)  And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Again, in our study passage, the main point that the Apostle was trying to illustrate was that through faith in Christ Jesus, each of us become united together as a part of the family of God. But are there Jews and Greeks today? Clearly! Are there slaves and free people? Yes! Are there males and females? Obviously!

Mark 10:6 (KJB)  But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

There are distinctions between the duties of men and women spoken of throughout the New Testament. It’s not some type of unisex mentality that is put forth by unspiritual people. Women were created as a helper of men, and just like a wife, they have different duties and requirements to fulfill in order to faithfully serve Christ Jesus. They must be in complete submission to men, because God is a God of order.

1 Corinthians 11:3 (KJB)  But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

The Apostle teaches that “ye are all one,” to be interpreted as you are all part of the same family together, but just like in any earthly family, there are distinct roles between men and women. A dad, his wife and the children all share unity with each other because they are all part of the same family. They might do recreational things together, clean up the house together, and even sit down to eat at the supper table together. But even though they share unity as a family, their roles greatly differ from each other. On a baseball team there are many different positions that people play, from a pitcher, to an outfielder, to a first baseman, but they are all a part of the same team! They are united together in the same purpose and function,…to win the game.

So are there males and females? Yes, and there is a distinction made throughout the New Testament regarding brothers and sisters and their functions in the family of God. In the home of a Christian man, he runs the house! Likewise in the church, men of God run the church! But families have become so out of whack nowadays because women claim equality with their husbands. They become unteachable and unsubmissive, and walk according to their own opinions rather than submitting themselves to men. Because of this, it has created complete disobedience to the gospel of Christ. But these are the times that we are passing through, an age of sexual rebellion against the will of God. 

As most of you know, I’ve always said that if I had been born a woman I would have loved staying home and taking care of the kids and doing fun things with them all the time! I would have tried to please my husband whenever I possibly could, knowing that Jesus would bless me because of it. But I was born a man, and men are required to preach and teach scripture. A lot of guys are not going to do it, but that is what all the men of the church need to be doing, not only publicly, but daily at home with their children and wives.

So to reiterate, our study passage is about being one with each other as a part of the family of God, but just like being obedient to an earthly dad, we must completely submit ourselves to the will of the Heavenly Father. Not everybody that professes to be a brother or sister in the faith, truly is. This is why the Apostle says…

…..for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Being “in Christ” means that you are walking according to the will of God. Submitting ourselves to His will, is the outward evidence that we are truly a part of His family. Millions of people claim to be Christian, but that doesn’t mean they are truly are a part of the family of God.

Mark 3:33-35 (KJB)  And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren? And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

There will be many false prophets who will twist scripture around to their own destruction, trying to make it fit with their own distorted and perverted sexual ideologies of this world. But as the Apostle taught, “….they shall proceed no further, for their folly shall be manifest unto all men….” 

There is one Shepherd and there is one flock, but I hope that all of you always remember, that even the sheep are…..
