Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture from The Book of Psalms.
Psalms 86:5 (KJB) For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.
When you are ready, it means that you are prepared for action and willing to do something. It’s also been defined as being immediately available or quick to respond. Our precious Lord is incredibly merciful, and He is prepared to grant us forgiveness for our sins. He is ready to grant a Divine pardon for all of the errors and offenses that we have committed. Through his incredible kindness, He wants to cleanse our hearts and our minds, completely absolving us of our sins and restoring us to wholeness.
Hebrews 4:14-16 (KJB) Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
In order to be forgiven for sin, one has to first recognize their own faults. You have to be capable of admitting the things that you have done wrong. We must come boldly to our precious Lord Jesus so that we can be completely cleansed of our sin.
Nehemiah 9:17 (KJB) And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.
Even in the story of The Prodigal Son, when the dad saw his son returning, he received him with open arms. This is the same way that God is with each of us, but we have to understand our weaknesses and admit them to Him.
Joel 2:12-13 (KJB) Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
When we sin against others, confession and forgiveness needs to take place. Each of us have received a certain portion of grace over the years, and now you need to take the forgiveness that you have received, and show it to others.
1 Peter 4:10 (KJB) As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
God wants us to give mercy liberally to others who are in need. Obviously we need to steer clear of sin, but if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. If you desire forgiveness from God then you need to be forgiving with others, even if it requires forgiving them numerous times.
Matthew 18:21-35 (KJB) Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
God is plenteous in Mercy, which means He has a lot of it available. Sin lead to death, but God desires to shower us with His grace, and grant us newness of life.
Psalms 103:8-12 (KJB) The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Even when we were dead in our sins, God offers us the free gift of His forgiveness. All of our past misdeeds can be washed away, as He completely cleanses our consciences.
Ephesians 2:1-7 (KJB) And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 1:6-7 (KJB) To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Forgiveness is available, but people have to confess their faults. Our God is rich in mercy, and He has lots of it available. Just like the dad of The Prodigal Son, He’s waiting to Grant a Divine pardon, because he is willing, he is able, and…..
………He is ready
