The Pedal Tractor

Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.

As a child growing up, sometimes our parents purchased us a brand new bicycle, or they dug deep down into their pockets and sprang for a fancy new pedal car. But occasionally, on a nice afternoon, you could watch as some of the new youngsters had the opportunity to ride around on their shiny new pedal tractor, making giant circles in their front yard for hours on end. It’s been claimed that in 1949, the very first pedal tractor came into existence. It was the Eska John Deere Model A, and it functioned very similarly to a bicycle. Unlike riding around on a big wheel that many of us might have had growing up, this tractor had a chain drive to propel the rear wheels, and a nice steering wheel that would easily turn the front tires. When I was a child, I normally had to put rubber bands around the bottom of my pants each time I went biking, but not on a pedal tractor. They had a unique little drive system in which the chain and the sprocket were normally enclosed so that the children didn’t get pinched in the gear work.

This reminds me of the Christian Life.

A pedal tractor has been around for many years, but you know what, they still basically look the same as they did 75 years ago. It’s easy to recognize one as it comes rolling down the sidewalk. They operate the same way, they steer the same way, and they look the same way. They really haven’t changed much at all. The same can be also said of the teachings of the King James Bible. When you have been educated in this book, the words within are very easy to recognize. This is because over the centuries, they remain the same, continuing to operate in our hearts the same way, guide us in the same way, and teach us the same way. Some things never really change, and that is so true about the unchangeable Word of God, because it is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Matthew 24:35 (KJB)  Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

There are many things in this world that never change. I spent some time down in Flagstaff Arizona, and I can always remember looking out the window at the San Francisco peaks that towered high behind the city. Day by day went by and every morning they will still there. They never changed, just like the doctrines of our faith found throughoit the teachings of the King James Bible.

Hebrews 13:8 (KJB)  Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

One time, when I was canoeing up in the boundary Waters, and found a large rock formation to camp out on for a day or two, but the next year when I returned, it was easy to recognize, because it was still there. It never changed, just like the doctrines of our faith found throughoit the teachings of the King James Bible.

1 Peter 1:25 (KJB)  But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

Sometimes when I drive down the highway, there is a huge forest on the side of the road. But out in the distance, amongst all of the balsam, birch and poplar trees, there is one tree that stands alone and towers high above them all, is a massive white pine which has stood there by itself for the last 25 years. Every time that I drive by,  I never fail to look at it, because it reminds me that some things never change, just like the doctrines of our faith found throughout the teachings of the King James Bible.

Isaiah 40:8 (KJB)  The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

When you look out into the world, you you can’t help but notice how things have changed in the last hundred years. The style of clothing has changed. Hairstyles have changed. And most of all, the sense of God-fearing morality has changed. This is because people are not grounded in the unchangeable teachings of scripture. They have walked out into the world without any light to find their way, but that is ultimately done by choice. After all, if you are not going to tie up your boat to the dock, then who is responsible when it floats away in the middle of the night? The boat owner. If people are not going to securely fasten themselves to the anchor of God’s Truth, then they are going to float off into the sea, only to be consumed by the wickedness of this world.  In order to be successful in this life, and someday obtain Paradise, we must build our lives upon something that is unmovable and unchangeable. We must build upon the sure foundation of the teachings of the King James Bible.

Luke 6:46-49 (KJB)  And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

When you are grounded in the truth of scripture, the elect of God cannot be deceived. This is because they will be able to identify the true men of God from the frauds.

John 7:16-17 (KJB)  Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

You know, a lot of times a young child won’t listen to someone who is a complete stranger, but they will listen and obey the commands of their own dad. Likewise the true sheep of God are not going to listen to the teachings of false prophets, but will open their ears to the teachings of God, contained within the King James Bible.

John 8:47 (KJB)  He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

So, like a strong root system that holds a tree firmly in place, we must be deeply rooted in the teachings of Holy Scripture. Our hearts must be unchangeable and unmovable when it comes to the immortal doctrines of our faith.

Always remember that God’s Word never changes, just like the San Francisco peaks, a giant white pine, or even the simple creation of,…..
