Good morning and welcome in everybody. Today, we are going to take a look at a passage of scripture, but before we do that, I wanted to tell you a little story.
Up here in our neck of the woods, a lot of people are pretty used to starting a fire, whether it’s loading the outdoor wood stove or cooking some fish over a campfire. But have you ever gotten too close as you threw some more logs onto the fire, and hot smoke hit you right in the face? This is a very unpleasant feeling, because your eyes will begin to water and burn, blinding you for a period of time. Maybe you were feeding the barrel stove out in the garage, and when you opened up the door, a big puff of smoke hit you square in the eyes and temporarily blurred your vision. Normally, when a firefighter runs into a burning building they will wear a mask, because the hot smoke can completely blind them from finding and rescuing a victim.
This reminds me of the Christian Life.
When smoke gets in your eyes, it can completely blind you, burning so deep that you cannot see where you are going. But many people are blinded by the smoke of their own religious pride, refusing to accept the truth and repenting of their arrogance. Spiritual blindness is by far the worst type to have, because people claim that they can see, but in all reality, they cannot see Spiritual things at all.
John 9:39-41 (KJB) And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also? Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
As I’ve said for many years, we are passing through some perilous times, and it’s looking more and more like the days of Noah. There is a huge form of false Christianity that is surrounding the world, led by false prophets who are leading people right into the fires of hell. They claim to be endowed with knowledge and wisdom, but have women usurping over men and preaching and teaching scripture, which is a mark of those who are completely unspiritual. Those who follow them are like unto them, and they shall all reap the same reward together.
Matthew 15:14 (KJB) Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
Isaiah 9:16 (KJB) For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.
The same types of religious people that Jesus rebuked, have reappeared in the form of false Christianity. It’s not the original faith that they preach, but a perverted and false gospel to lead the masses astray. The devil has stepped into high places of religious authority, and just like in the Garden of Eden, continues to lead people away from faithful obedience to Christ, and many people are going to follow them, just as the Apostle Peter foretold.
2 Peter 2:1-3 (KJB) But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
False prophets will preach damnable heresies, which are teachings that are in complete contravention to biblical truth. They seduce and deceive others, and lead them away from the pure teachings of the one true faith. Take note that many are going to follow them, as you can readily see happening all over the world today. But the judgment of the great day, and the punishment for their lies, will soon come swiftly upon the heads of them all.
2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (KJB) For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
I find it interesting how everybody wants others to follow them online, for whatever the purpose. But this is the same attitude that many of the religious leaders had years ago. It continues to go today as false prophets want you to follow after them and their false teachings. With leadership comes great responsibility, but Jesus referred to many religious leaders as blind guides.
Matthew 23:23-33 (KJB) Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets. Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
Matthew 23:15 (KJB) Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
So beware, because false Christianity and deceivers will continue to wax worse and worse. Just like the days of old, many of these same people continue to wander the Earth today, puffed up in their own religious pride. They will claim to be filled with light, and can see perfectly fine, but the real truth is that they are blinded by their own impenitent hearts. Remember that pride cometh before the fall, because after all, that’s what happens, when,…..
